你們要察驗自己是否在信仰中，要考驗自己。難道你們不了解耶穌基督在你們裡面嗎？除非你們是經不起考驗的。

我現在所做的，將來還要做，為要斷絕那些人的機會——他們想找一個機會，好讓別人以為他們所誇耀的與我們一樣，因為這樣的人是假使徒，是詭詐的工人，他們裝做基督的使徒。

我們所誇耀的是這一點：我們的良心見證了我們在世上行事為人帶著屬神的忠實和真誠，不是靠屬肉體的智慧，而是靠神的恩典；對你們更是如此。

心中背道的必飽嘗他行為的後果；好人也必飽嘗他行為的回報。

至於我被你們評斷，或被人審判，對我都是極小的事。其實連我自己也不評斷自己。我誠然問心無愧，但也並不因此被稱為義，原來評斷我的是主。

這樣，一個人應當省察自己，然後才吃這餅、喝這杯。

耶和華啊，求你察驗我，試驗我，熬煉我的肺腑心腸！

這就是說：你們各自聲稱「我是屬保羅的」，或「我是屬阿波羅的」，或「我是屬磯法的」，或「我是屬基督的」。難道基督是被分割的嗎？難道保羅為你們被釘十字架了嗎？或者你們受洗是歸入保羅的名嗎？

所以誰都不要以人誇耀；要知道，一切都屬於你們：無論是保羅、是阿波羅、是磯法、是世界、是生、是死、是現在的事、是將來的事，全都屬於你們；而你們屬於基督，基督屬於神。

弟兄們，我把這些事應用到我和阿波羅身上，是為了你們的緣故，好讓你們從我們學到「不要超越經上所記的」，免得你們自我膨脹，抬高這個人，貶低那個人。使你與別人不同的到底是誰呢？你有什麼不是領受的呢？如果真是領受的，你為什麼還自誇，好像不是領受的呢？

那法利賽人站著，向自己禱告這些話：『神哪，我感謝你，因為我不像其他人那樣：勒索、不義、通姦，也不像這個稅吏。

事實上，那些受割禮的人自己也不遵守律法。他們要你們受割禮，是為了以你們的肉體誇耀。
