Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

Brothers and sisters, what if someone is caught in a sin? Then you who live by the Spirit should correct that person. Do it in a gentle way. But be careful. You could be tempted too.

Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.

My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

And have mercy on those who doubt;save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.

but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

I, Paul, myself entreat you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ— I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!—

I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.

Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?

Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.Say to those who have an anxious heart,“ Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.”

What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.“ If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.

Go and learn what this means:‘ I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, and you have made firm the feeble knees.

Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.

His father came out and entreated him,but he answered his father,‘ Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’And he said to him,‘ Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”

It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said,“ Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her.( Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house.And the woman conceived, and she sent and told David,“ I am pregnant.”So David sent word to Joab,“ Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent Uriah to David.When Uriah came to him, David asked how Joab was doing and how the people were doing and how the war was going.Then David said to Uriah,“ Go down to your house and wash your feet.” And Uriah went out of the king’s house, and there followed him a present from the king.But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house.When they told David,“ Uriah did not go down to his house,” David said to Uriah,“ Have you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?”Uriah said to David,“ The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in booths, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field. Shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.”Then David said to Uriah,“ Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next.And David invited him, and he ate in his presence and drank, so that he made him drunk. And in the evening he went out to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house.In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah.In the letter he wrote,“ Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, that he may be struck down, and die.”And as Joab was besieging the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew there were valiant men.And the men of the city came out and fought with Joab, and some of the servants of David among the people fell. Uriah the Hittite also died.Then Joab sent and told David all the news about the fighting.And he instructed the messenger,“ When you have finished telling all the news about the fighting to the king,then, if the king’s anger rises, and if he says to you,‘ Why did you go so near the city to fight? Did you not know that they would shoot from the wall?Who killed Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? Did not a woman cast an upper millstone on him from the wall, so that he died at Thebez? Why did you go so near the wall?’ then you shall say,‘ Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.’”So the messenger went and came and told David all that Joab had sent him to tell.The messenger said to David,“ The men gained an advantage over us and came out against us in the field, but we drove them back to the entrance of the gate.Then the archers shot at your servants from the wall. Some of the king’s servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.”David said to the messenger,“ Thus shall you say to Joab,‘ Do not let this matter displease you, for the sword devours now one and now another. Strengthen your attack against the city and overthrow it.’ And encourage him.”When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she lamented over her husband.And when the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.And the Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him,“ There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor.The rich man had very many flocks and herds,but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him.Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan,“ As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die,and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.”Nathan said to David,“ You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel,‘ I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.And I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more.Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’Thus says the Lord,‘ Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.’”David said to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David,“ The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.”Then Nathan went to his house. And the Lord afflicted the child that Uriah’s wife bore to David, and he became sick.

If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
