You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace.

You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace.

You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the Law; you have fallen from grace.

You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.They prove the truth of this proverb:“ A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says,“ A washed pig returns to the mud.”

I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.

But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.

And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is— free and undeserved.

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned.But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.

For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you.

For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened— those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit,who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come—and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.

For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.

Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches.

I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good Newsbut is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.

You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing.Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.
