蓋情慾長則靈心消、靈心長則情慾消；兩者相敵、致爾心有餘而力不足。

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

The desires controlled by sin do not want what the Spirit delights in. And the Spirit does not want what the desires controlled by sin delight in. The two are at war with each other. That’s why you are not supposed to do whatever you want.

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

My soul is crushed with longing For Your ordinances at all times.

For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose,“ He jealously desires the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”?But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Indeed, there is not a righteous person on earth who always does good and does not ever sin.

Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

I shall run the way of Your commandments, For You will enlarge my heart. He

Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults.Also keep Your servant back from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be innocent, And I will be blameless of great wrongdoing.

Create in me a clean heart, God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit.

For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to rein in the whole body as well.

and He said to them,“ Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you do not come into temptation.”

But He turned and said to Peter,“ Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s purposes, but men’s.”

What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Far from it! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said,“ You shall not covet.”But sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.

Not that I have already grasped it all or have already become perfect, but I press on if I may also take hold of that for which I was even taken hold of by Christ Jesus.Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.Therefore, all who are mature, let’s have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that to you as well;however, let’s keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.

The one who is not with Me is against Me; and the one who does not gather with Me scatters.

Be gracious to me, God, according to Your faithfulness; According to the greatness of Your compassion, wipe out my wrongdoings.Wash me thoroughly from my guilt And cleanse me from my sin.For I know my wrongdoings, And my sin is constantly before me.Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge.Behold, I was brought forth in guilt, And in sin my mother conceived me.

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it.

And Jesus said to him,“ Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me;for sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it, killed me.So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? Far from it! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by bringing about my death through that which is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold into bondage to sin.For I do not understand what I am doing; for I am not practicing what I want to do, but I do the very thing I hate.However, if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, that the Law is good.But now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me.For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.But if I do the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me.I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.For I joyfully agree with the law of God in the inner person,but I see a different law in the parts of my body waging war against the law of my mind, and making me a prisoner of the law of sin, the law which is in my body’s parts.Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

But he said to Him,“ Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death!”

Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me.

“ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Now they arrested Him and led Him away, and brought Him to the house of the high priest; but Peter was following at a distance.After they kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.And a slave woman, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, and staring at him, said,“ This man was with Him as well.”But he denied it, saying,“ I do not know Him, woman!”And a little later, another person saw him and said,“ You are one of them too!” But Peter said,“ Man, I am not!”And after about an hour had passed, some other man began to insist, saying,“ Certainly this man also was with Him, for he, too, is a Galilean.”But Peter said,“ Man, I do not know what you are talking about!” And immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.And then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him,“ Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”

You have ordained Your precepts, That we are to keep them diligently.Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes!Then I will not be ashamed When I look at all Your commandments.

Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, Lord, according to Your faithfulness.

Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? Far from it! For if a law had been given that was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law.

Wrongdoings prevail against me; As for our offenses, You forgive them.

I have wandered about like a lost sheep; search for Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments.

If You, Lord, were to keep account of guilty deeds, Lord, who could stand?

Your testimonies also are my delight; They are my advisers. DalethMy soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word.
