蓋肉體所欲、逆聖神、聖神所欲、逆肉體、二者相敵、致爾不能為所欲為、

蓋情慾長則靈心消、靈心長則情慾消；兩者相敵、致爾心有餘而力不足。

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

The desires controlled by sin do not want what the Spirit delights in. And the Spirit does not want what the desires controlled by sin delight in. The two are at war with each other. That’s why you are not supposed to do whatever you want.

For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.

For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, in order to keep you from doing whatever you want.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would.

For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want.

由肉而生者、肉也、由神而生者、神也、

爾若依形軀而生、則必死、惟以神而泯身之所行者、則必生、

我恆慕爾律例、至於心碎兮、

蓋依形軀者、志乎形軀之事、依神者、志乎神之事、夫形軀之志乃死、神之志生且安也、蓋形軀之志、敵乎上帝、以其不服上帝律、且不能服也、從形軀者、不能取悅乎上帝、

爾意經言豈徒然哉、其所使居於我儕之靈、詎戀慕以至媢嫉乎、惟彼賜尤大之恩、故曰、上帝拒驕傲者、賜恩於謙卑者、

義者恆行善、而絕未干罪、世無其人、

儆醒祈禱、免入誘惑、心固願之、而身弱耳、

爾拓我心、我則趨爾誡之道兮、○

人之過失、孰能自知、我之誤犯、尚其赦宥兮、祈禁爾僕故犯乎罪、免其轄予、我則端正、不蹈重愆兮、

上帝歟、為我造清潔之心、復正直之神於我衷兮、勿屏我於爾前、勿收回爾聖神兮、復我拯救之樂、以悅懌之神扶我兮、

夫我儕於事多蹶、惟言語無蹶者、是為完人、能範其身、

謂之曰、何寢乎、起而禱、免入於試、○

耶穌回顧彼得曰、撒但退、爾阻我、以爾不體上帝之事、乃體人之事耳、

然則將何言耶、律豈罪乎、非也、非由律則我未嘗知罪、如律不言毋欲、則我不知欲、然罪乘機、由誡而動諸欲於我中、蓋無律罪乃死、

非謂我既得既成、惟趨進庶可獲基督耶穌所以獲我者也、兄弟乎、我不以為既獲、惟專一、忘乎後而奮乎前、趨向標準、致得上帝自上而召之賞、在基督耶穌中者、故凡我中之完人、宜懷此志、若有異志、上帝亦將以此示爾、惟我儕所已及者、宜依此而行焉、○

不與我偕者、即敵我、不與我斂者、即散也、

上帝歟、依爾恩惠憫我躬、循爾鴻慈塗我過兮、洗盡我愆尤、潔除我罪戾兮、蓋我自知己過、我罪恆在目前兮、我惟獲罪於爾、行爾所惡、致爾出詞顯公義、行鞫顯清正兮、我生於愆尤、在母妊中、即負罪兮、

若言無罪則自欺、而真理不在我衷、若承我罪、彼乃信義、必赦我罪、潔我諸不義矣、若言我未干罪、則以彼為誑、其道不在我衷矣、

使行爾誡之道、因我樂此兮、

我曰、禍哉我也、亡矣、我乃脣穢之人、居於脣穢民中、而目睹大君、萬軍之耶和華也、

耶穌曰、西門巴約拿福矣、蓋非有血氣者示爾、乃我在天之父也、

是致生之誡、適以致死、蓋罪乘機因誡誘我、且因之殺我、如是、律聖、誡亦聖、且義且善也、然則善其死我乎、非也、但罪因善而死我、以顯其為罪、俾罪因誡而致其極耳、夫我儕知律屬神、我屬形軀、自鬻於罪、蓋我所為者、不自知也、以我所願者不行之、所惡者斯行之、若我行所不願者、則許律為善矣、今行之者、非我也、乃居我中之罪也、蓋我知我形軀中無善、雖志於善、而未能行也、因我不行所願之善、而行所不願之惡、若我行所不願者、其行之者、非我也、乃居我中之罪也、是以我覺有一律、即我願行善、而惡偕我、蓋依內心、則悅上帝之律、然覺肢體中別有一律、與我心志之律戰、擄我服於肢體中之罪律、苦哉、我之為人也、誰拯我出此致死之身乎、感謝上帝、由我主耶穌基督為然、是故我以心志服於上帝律、以形軀服於罪律、

曰、主、我已備偕爾入獄蹈死矣、

固我步履於爾言、勿任罪惡制我兮、

飢渴慕義者福矣、以其將得飽也、

主耶和華歟、爾若注意罪愆、孰能卓立兮、

爾之法度、為我所悅、乃我謀士兮、○我魂附近塵土、其依爾言甦我兮、
