兄弟乎、若我尚宣割禮、何至猶見窘逐乎、若然、則十架之蹇礙已廢矣、

兄弟乎、若我言人當受割禮、何至今猶窘逐我乎、彼亦不厭十字架之道矣、

兄弟乎、若我仍傳割禮、何至尚受窘逐乎、若傳割禮、則十字架之道、不被人厭棄矣、

兄弟乎、苟我今猶鼓吹割禮、則何為尚受排擯耶？夫然則十字架亦不當復被視為眼中釘矣。

Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

Brothers and sisters, I no longer preach that people must be circumcised. If I did, why am I still being opposed? If I preached that, then the cross wouldn’t upset anyone.

But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

Dear brothers and sisters, if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised— as some say I do— why am I still being persecuted? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended.

Now brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.

But as for me, brothers and sisters, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been eliminated.

And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.

但我們傳講被釘十字架的基督。這對猶太人來說是絆腳石，對外族人來說是愚昧的。

那些勉強你們接受割禮的人只不過是做表面工夫，想討好別人，避免為基督的十字架受迫害。

當時，那按著人的意願生的兒子迫害那靠著聖靈生的兒子，現在的情況也和當時一樣。

我們又何必時刻身臨險境呢？

跟我同去的提多雖然是希臘人，但沒有人勉強他接受割禮。

他們聽見有人說你教導住在外族人中的猶太人背棄摩西的律法，不替孩子行割禮，也不遵守猶太人的規矩。

保羅打算帶提摩太去傳福音。因為當地的猶太人都知道提摩太的父親是希臘人，保羅就給提摩太行了割禮。

主卻對我說，『去吧！我要差遣你到遙遠的外族人那裡。』」眾人一聽到這裡，就高喊：「從世上除掉這樣的人！他不配活著！」

他們自稱是基督的僕人，我說句狂話，我更是！我比他們更辛苦，坐牢更多，身受更重的鞭打，經常出生入死。我被猶太同胞鞭打了五次，每次三十九鞭，被羅馬人用棍打了三次，被人用石頭打了一次，遇到船難三次，曾在大海上漂浮了一天一夜。我常常四處奔波，遭遇江河的危險、盜賊的威脅、同胞的威脅、外族的威脅，城中的危險，曠野的危險，海上的危險和假信徒的威脅。

祂必作人的聖所，也要作以色列和猶大的絆腳石和使人跌倒的磐石，作耶路撒冷居民的陷阱和網羅。

但願從今以後，再也沒有人來攪擾我了，因為我身上已經烙上了耶穌的印記。

他們高喊：「以色列人快來幫忙！就是這人到處教唆人反對我們的民族、律法和聖殿。他還帶希臘人進聖殿，玷污這聖地。」

為什麼會這樣呢？因為他們不憑信心，只靠自己的行為去追求義，結果就在那塊「絆腳石」上跌倒了。正如聖經上說：「看啊！我在錫安放了一塊絆腳石，一塊使人跌倒的磐石。但信靠祂的人必不致蒙羞。」

也是：「絆腳石和使人跌倒的磐石。」他們跌倒是因為他們不順服真道，這種下場早已註定了。但你們是蒙揀選的族群，是君尊的祭司，是聖潔的國度，是上帝的子民，因此你們可以宣揚上帝的美德。祂曾呼召你們離開黑暗，進入祂奇妙的光明。

因為十字架之道在將要滅亡的人看來是愚昧的，但對我們這些得救的人來說卻是上帝的大能，

有四十多人參與了這個陰謀。他們去見祭司長和長老，說：「我們已經發了誓，不殺保羅不吃飯。
