雖然、經不云乎：『婢女及其所生、必須驅而出之；蓋婢女之子、斷無與主婦之子同承嗣業之理也。』

Howbeit what saith the scripture? Cast out the handmaid and her son: for the son of the handmaid shall not inherit with the son of the freewoman.

就對亞伯拉罕說：『把這使女和她兒子趕出去吧；因為這使女的兒子萬不能和我兒子以撒一同繼承產業。因了兒子的緣故，亞伯拉罕很不高興。上帝對亞伯拉罕說：『你不要因這兒童和你使女的緣故而不高興；凡撒拉對你說的，你都要聽她的話；因為本着以撒而生下來的、才要叫做你的後裔。

奴隸不永遠住在家裏；兒子永遠住着。

你們並不是領受了奴役之靈，以致重陷於懼怕；你們乃是領受了被立為子的靈；憑着這樣的靈、我們來呼叫：「阿爸！父啊！」的。聖靈自己、和我們的靈一同作證我們乃是上帝的兒女。既是兒女，便是後嗣：是上帝的後嗣，和基督同做後嗣，如果我們和他一同受苦、的話；那是要使我們也和他同得榮耀。

那麼便怎麼樣呢？以色列所切求的、他們竟然沒有得着；惟獨蒙揀選的人得着了。其餘的人就成了頑梗不化的；正如經上所記的：『上帝給了他們麻木的靈，不能看的眼，不能聽的耳，直到今天這日子。』大衛也說：『願他們的筵席對他們成了網羅，成了機檻，成了絆跌物，又成了報應；願他們的眼昏矇、不能看見；願你使他們的脊背總是彎屈卑服。』那麼我要說，難道他們猶太人失了腳，是要全然跌倒麼？斷乎不是。我乃是說，因他們的過犯、拯救便臨到了外國人，好激動他們的羨妒。

其實不然，經書乃是斷言萬人都被圈住在犯罪之中，這就使所應許的須由相信耶穌基督、而賜給信的人了。

上帝並沒有把他所豫知的子民推開啊。你們不曉得經上在以利亞那段所說的麼？他怎樣向上帝懇求告以色列說：

經書早就見到：上帝要使外國人本於信而得稱義，所以早就傳好消息給亞伯拉罕說：『眾外國必在你身上蒙祝福』。

因為經上怎麼說呢？『亞伯拉罕信上帝，這就算為他的義了。』

『上帝切慕他所安置在我們裏面居住的靈、至於狂熱』你們想這一句經是空說的麼？
