奴隶不会永远住在家里，儿子却会永远住在家里。

就是说，你们所领受的不是一个奴役的灵，使你们再有惧怕；相反，你们所领受的是使你们有儿子名份的圣灵——藉着他，我们呼叫：“阿爸！父啊！”圣灵亲自与我们的灵一同作证：我们是神的儿女。既然是儿女，也就是继承人；如果我们真是为了与他一同得荣耀而与他一同受苦，我们就是神的继承人，而且与基督同做继承人。

所以怎么样呢？以色列人并没有获得他们所寻求的，蒙拣选的人却获得了，而其余的人都成了刚硬的，正如经上所记：“神给了他们昏迷的心灵、看不见的眼睛、听不见的耳朵，直到今天。”大卫也说：“让他们的筵席成为网罗、陷阱、绊脚石，又成为他们的报应。让他们的眼睛昏暗不能看。让他们的腰背永远弯曲。”所以我要问，难道以色列人跌倒了，是要他们败落吗？绝对不是！相反，因他们的过犯，救恩就临到了外邦人，为要激起以色列人的嫉妒之心。

然而，经上的话把万物都圈在罪孽之下，为要使这因信耶稣基督而来的应许，赐给那些相信的人。

神并没有弃绝自己预先所知道的子民。难道你们不知道那有关以利亚的经文怎么说吗？他怎样向神抱怨以色列人呢？

既然经文预先看见神要使外邦人因信称义，就预先把福音传给了亚伯拉罕，说：“万国都要藉着你蒙祝福。”

经上到底是怎么说的呢？“亚伯拉罕信神，这就被算为他的义。”

或者，你们以为经上所说的“神使圣灵住在我们里面，他爱我们到嫉妒的地步”是空话吗？
