The Israelites hate anyone who arbitrates at the city gate; they despise anyone who speaks honestly.

Do not reprove a mocker or he will hate you; reprove a wise person and he will love you.

But when I saw that they were not behaving consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all,“ If you, although you are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

God’s Spirit energized Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood up before the people and said to them,“ This is what God says:‘ Why are you violating the commands of the LORD? You will not be prosperous! Because you have rejected the LORD, he has rejected you!’”They plotted against him and by royal decree stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD’s temple.King Joash disregarded the loyalty his father Jehoiada had shown him and killed Jehoiada’s son. As Zechariah was dying, he said,“ May the LORD take notice and seek vengeance!”

Say,‘ This is what the king says,“ Put this man in prison. Give him only a little bread and water until I safely return.”’”

You foolish Galatians! Who has cast a spell on you? Before your eyes Jesus Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified!The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard?Are you so foolish? Although you began with the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by human effort?Have you suffered so many things for nothing?– if indeed it was for nothing.
