Vipers’ venom is under their lips.Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.Their feet are swift to shed blood;ruin and wretchedness are in their paths,and the path of peace they have not known.There is no fear of God before their eyes.Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.For no one will be justified in his sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.

The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even moreso that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God’s will, for the sake of the promise of life in Christ Jesus:

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life.I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

By these he has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire.

Now this is his command: that we believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another as he commanded us.The one who keeps his commands remains in him, and he in him. And the way we know that he remains in us is from the Spirit he has given us.

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.

I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me would not remain in darkness.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and proclaimed the gospel ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you.Consequently, those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith.For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed.

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater to swear by, he swore by himself:I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply you.And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham obtained the promise.For people swear by something greater than themselves, and for them a confirming oath ends every dispute.Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath,

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;

For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.

But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

“ Truly I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.And he became the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith our father Abraham had while he was still uncircumcised.For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise nullified,because the law produces wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, to guarantee it to all the descendants— not only to the one who is of the law but also to the one who is of Abraham’s faith. He is the father of us all.

They said,“ Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved— you and your household.”

If you confess with your mouth,“ Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

My point is this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously established by God and thus cancel the promise.
