What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

Here is what I mean. The law came 430 years after the promise. But the law does not get rid of God’s covenant and promise. The covenant had already been made by God. So the law does not do away with the promise.

This is what I am trying to say: The agreement God made with Abraham could not be canceled 430 years later when God gave the law to Moses. God would be breaking his promise.

My point is this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously established by God and thus cancel the promise.

What I am saying is this: the Law, which came 430 years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.

And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect.

Now this I say: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, doth not disannul, so as to make the promise of none effect.

And I say this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not revoke a covenant that was previously ratified by God and cancel the promise.

And this I say,[ that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

What I am saying is this: The law that came four hundred thirty years later does not cancel a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to invalidate the promise.

Now I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.

Then the Lord said to Abram,“ Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years.

And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised,since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself,saying,“ Surely I will bless you and multiply you.”And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation.So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath,so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?

For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void.

I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments.

To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.

The time that the people of Israel lived in Egypt was 430 years.At the end of 430 years, on that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.

He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you

“ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his peopleand has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us;to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant usthat we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins,because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on highto give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”

Then your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be beaten down by it.

You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.

Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

And God spoke to this effect— that his offspring would be sojourners in a land belonging to others, who would enslave them and afflict them four hundred years.

What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?

whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

But if, on the day that her husband comes to hear of it, he opposes her, then he makes void her vow that was on her, and the thoughtless utterance of her lips by which she bound herself. And the Lord will forgive her.

Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.

For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness

This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none,

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.

These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying,“ To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,

Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.”So the Jews said to him,“ You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”Jesus said to them,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

God said,“ No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.

What I mean is that each one of you says,“ I follow Paul,” or“ I follow Apollos,” or“ I follow Cephas,” or“ I follow Christ.”

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,of whom it was said,“ Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
