The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say“ and to seeds,” meaning many people, but“ and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ.

蓋亞伯漢及其苗裔、承天主恩諾、得嗣大地者、非憑律法之制、乃緣信德之義。

爾中凡已領洗而歸依基督者、實已服膺基督、有如衣之被體焉。故無論猶太人也、希臘人也、奴也主也、男也女也、悉在基督耶穌之身、融為一體矣。夫爾等既屬基督即為亞伯漢之裔、亦即承恩諾之嗣子也。

是故人之為嗣、所緣惟信德、所恃惟慈惠；庶幾天主之恩諾、能普被眾裔、不僅限於屬法者亦且兼及具有亞伯漢之信德者。

每許我列祖、恩諾終不改；矜憐亞伯漢、苗裔永見愛。』

古經實已逆睹天主之將使普天萬民因信成義、故預報福音於亞伯漢曰：『天下萬民、咸將蒙休於爾懷中。』

人焉有自惡其骨肉者乎。必也養之畜之、愛之惜之、正如基督之於教會。蓋吾人皆厥身之肢體與骨肉也。

爾曹乃先知之後；天主與我祖立約、亦為爾曹。

今吾人全體、乃基督之身也；各別言之、則皆此身之肢體也。

今吾人亦已因基督、而合為一體矣。

務須篤守真諦、涵養愛德、日漸月漬、暢茂條達、庶克仰配為吾人元首之基督。在元首庇蔭之下、全身組織、緊湊圓密、百節相承、股肱各司其職、使全身平衡發展、植根於愛德之中、而蔚為大觀。

夫人之一身、具有四肢百體；肢體雖多、不外一身。基督亦然；

既云新人、則不復分異邦人與猶太人、割禮中人與非割禮中人、化外人與西古提人、為奴之人與自由之人矣。蓋基督包羅萬有、而寓乎萬有也、

殊不知元首為全體之綱領、全體之筋脈骨節、賴之以生、賴之以固、賴之以調暢滋長於天主懷中。

此中有極大之玄妙存焉、蓋所以象徵基督與教會之關係。
