我素所毀者、若復建之、則視己為罪人、

倘使吾所破壞者、吾又從而建設之、是吾自承為犯法之人矣。

If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker.

Suppose I build again what I had destroyed. Then I would really be breaking the law.

For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor.

If I rebuild those things that I tore down, I show myself to be a lawbreaker.

For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a wrongdoer.

For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a transgressor.

If I rebuild the system I tore down, I show myself to be a lawbreaker.

For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God’s law.

For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law- breaker.

So now that you know God( or should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world?You are trying to earn favor with God by observing certain days or months or seasons or years.I fear for you. Perhaps all my hard work with you was for nothing.Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to live as I do in freedom from these things, for I have become like you Gentiles— free from those laws. You did not mistreat me when I first preached to you.

When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision.As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others,“ Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions?“ You and I are Jews by birth, not‘ sinners’ like the Gentiles.Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”

And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don’t let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died.

Dear brothers and sisters, if I were still preaching that you must be circumcised— as some say I do— why am I still being persecuted? If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended.

Even that question came up only because of some so called believers there— false ones, really— who were secretly brought in. They sneaked in to spy on us and take away the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to enslave us and force us to follow their Jewish regulations.But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you.

So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed.And when you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ.

I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
