夫我儕本猶太人、非異邦罪人、

吾人為猶太人、而非外邦之罪人、固矣；

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to various passions and desires, spending our lives in evil and envy, hateful and hating one another.

among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest…

Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh– who are called“ uncircumcision” by the so- called“ circumcision” that is performed on the body by human hands–that you were at that time without the Messiah, alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

What then? Are we better off? Certainly not, for we have already charged that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin,

But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them,“ You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance,and don’t think you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

Abraham did not do this!You people are doing the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Jesus,“ We were not born as a result of immorality! We have only one Father, God himself.”

The woman was a Greek, of Syrophoenician origin. She asked him to cast the demon out of her daughter.He said to her,“ Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and to throw it to the dogs.”She answered,“ Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

When the Pharisees saw this they said to his disciples,“ Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

The LORD sent you on a campaign saying,‘ Go and exterminate those sinful Amalekites! Fight against them until you have destroyed them.’

For this reason it is by faith so that it may be by grace, with the result that the promise may be certain to all the descendants– not only to those who are under the law, but also to those who have the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
