For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

namely, that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A slave girl came to him and said,“ You also were with Jesus the Galilean.”But he denied it in front of them all:“ I don’t know what you’re talking about!”When he went out to the gateway, another slave girl saw him and said to the people there,“ This man was with Jesus the Nazarene.”He denied it again with an oath,“ I do not know the man!”After a little while, those standing there came up to Peter and said,“ You really are one of them too– even your accent gives you away!”At that he began to curse, and he swore with an oath,“ I do not know the man!” At that moment a rooster crowed.Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said:“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,because you have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.In him the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

The fear of people becomes a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD will be set on high.

Stay away from every form of evil.

The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were there.When Paul had greeted them, he began to explain in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.When they heard this, they praised God. They will no doubt hear that you have come.So do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow;take them and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may have their heads shaved. Then everyone will know there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself live in conformity with the law.But regarding the Gentiles who have believed, we have written a letter, having decided that they should avoid meat that has been sacrificed to idols and blood and what has been strangled and sexual immorality.”

They say,‘ Keep to yourself! Don’t get near me, for I am holier than you!’ These people are like smoke in my nostrils, like a fire that keeps burning all day long.

Whom are you worried about? Whom do you fear, that you would act so deceitfully and not remember me or think about me? Because I have been silent for so long, you are not afraid of me.
