For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

法利賽人以及經學士、就唧唧咕咕地彼此議論說：『這個人接待一些「罪人」，又和他們一同喫飯哪。』

彼得上耶路撒冷去的時候，奉割禮的人和他爭辯說：『你進了沒有受割禮的人家裏，和他們一同喫飯呀！』

又知道了主所賜給我的恩，那些有名望的柱石、雅各、磯法、約翰、就伸出團契的右手來跟我和巴拿巴握手，叫我們到外國人中間去，而他們卻到受割禮的人那裏去。

這奧祕就是：外國人在基督耶穌裏、藉着福音、得以同做後嗣、同做一個身體、一同有分於應許之恩。

彼得在外面院子裏坐着；有一個使女上他跟前來，說：『你素來也是同加利利人耶穌一夥的呀！』彼得在眾人面前卻否認說：『你說甚麼，我不知道啊。』他出去到了門廊，另有一個女的看見他、就對那裏的人說，『這個人、素來也是同拿撒勒人耶穌一夥的。』彼得又否認，並帶着起誓說：『我不認識那個人。』過了一會兒，旁邊站着的人上前來，對彼得說：『真實地、你也是他們中間的人；因為你的口音把你顯得明明白白了。』這時彼得就極力咒詛自己並且起誓說：『我不認識那個人。』立刻地雞就叫了。彼得想起了耶穌所說的話：『雞叫以前，你就要三次否認我了』；便出去痛哭。

這樣，你們就不再是外人或僑民了，乃是聖徒同國之民，是上帝一家的人。被建造在使徒和神言傳講師的根基上，基督耶穌自己就是房角石。靠着他、各部建築都互相聯接，漸漸高大，成為在主裏的聖殿堂。靠着他、你們也一同被建造、成為上帝以靈居住的所在。

懼怕人的、乃自設網羅；但倚靠永恆主的、必得到安穩。

要禁戒各式各樣的邪惡。

而以自己的肉身、血與肉、廢掉了規例中誡命的律法，好把兩下在自己裏面創造一個新人類、而成就和平；

翌日，保羅同我們進去見雅各；眾長老也都在那裏。既給他們請了安，保羅就將上帝、藉着他傳道的職事、在外國人中所作的各樣事、一一述說。他們聽見了，就將榮耀歸與上帝，對保羅說：『老哥，你看猶太人中信的有多少萬，都是熱心於律法的人；他們聽見人口傳你的事，說你教授叛教之道，叫外國中所有的猶太人違背摩西，說不要給孩子行割禮；也不要按規矩行。那麼這可怎麼辦呢？他們總會聽見你來了的。這樣吧，你就照我們所告訴你的作吧。我們這裏有四個人、都有願在身；你帶着這幾個人，同他們行清潔禮，替他們納費，使他們得以剃頭髮。這樣，眾人便可知道所口傳關於你的話都是沒有的事；並且、就是你自己也反而是按規矩行、遵守律法的。至於信道的外國人呢、我們已經寫信訓諭他們，決定叫他們自守，不喫祭偶像之物和血、跟勒死的動物，又不行淫亂。』

他們對人說：『你在你那兒呆着吧！不要挨近我，因為我的「屬聖」會染着你。』主說：這些人是我鼻中的煙，是整天燒𤏲的火。

你怕誰？你因誰而恐懼，竟然撒謊？連我、你都不懷念，不放在心上！豈不是我緘默不言又閉口許久了，以致連我、你都不畏懼麼？
