For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said,“ You also were with Jesus the Galilean.”But he denied it before them all, saying,“ I do not know what you mean.”And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders,“ This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”And again he denied it with an oath:“ I do not know the man.”After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter,“ Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you.”Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear,“ I do not know the man.” And immediately the rooster crowed.And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus,“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.

Abstain from every form of evil.

They will certainly hear that you have come.Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow;take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law.But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

who say,“ Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.” These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day.

Whom did you dread and fear, so that you lied, and did not remember me, did not lay it to heart? Have I not held my peace, even for a long time, and you do not fear me?
