彼得上到耶路撒冷的時候，那些守割禮的人與他爭論，說：“你竟然到未受割禮的人那裡，跟他們一起吃飯！”

又知道我蒙了神的恩，那幾位被譽為柱石的雅各、磯法和約翰，就向我和巴拿巴伸出右手互相許諾，我們要到外族人那裡去傳福音，他們要到受割禮的人那裡去傳福音；

這奧祕就是外族人在基督耶穌裡，藉著福音可以同作後嗣，同為一體，同蒙應許。

彼得坐在外面的院子裡，有一個婢女走過來對他說：“你也是和加利利人耶穌一夥的。”彼得卻當眾否認，說：“我不知道你說甚麼。”他出到門口，又有一個婢女看見他，就對那裡的人說：“這人是和拿撒勒人耶穌一夥的。”彼得再次否認，並且發誓說：“我不認識那個人。”過了一會，站在那裡的人前來對他說：“你的確是他們中間的一個，因為一聽你的口音就認出來了。”彼得就發咒起誓說：“我不認識那一個人。”立刻雞就叫了。彼得想起耶穌所說的話：“雞叫以前，你會三次不認我”，他就出去痛哭。

這樣看來，你們不再是外人和客旅，而是與聖徒一同作國民，是神家裡的人了，並且建造在使徒和先知的根基上，基督耶穌自己就是奠基石，整座建築都靠著他連接配合，漸漸增長成為在主裡面的聖所。你們在他裡面也一同被建造，成為神藉著聖靈居住的所在。

懼怕人的，必陷入網羅；倚靠耶和華的，必得安全。

各樣的惡事要遠離。

並且廢掉了律法的規條，使兩者在他裡面成為一個新人，這樣就締造了和平。

第二天，保羅和我們一同去見雅各，長老們也都在座。保羅問候了他們，就把神藉著他的工作在外族人中所行的事，一一述說出來。他們聽了，就讚美神，對保羅說：“弟兄，你看，猶太人中信主的有好幾萬，都是對律法很熱心的人。他們聽說，你教導所有在外族人中的猶太人背棄摩西，叫他們不要給孩子行割禮，也不要遵守規例。他們總會聽見你來了，那怎麼辦呢？你就照我們的話作吧，我們這裡有四個人，都有願在身。你把他們帶去，和他們一同行潔淨禮，並且替他們付錢，讓他們剃去頭髮，這樣大家就知道以前所聽見關於你的事，都不是真實的，也知道你是遵守律法循規蹈矩而行的人。至於信主的外族人，我們已經寫了信，吩咐他們要禁戒祭偶像的食物、血、勒死的牲畜和淫亂。”

並且對人說：“你站遠一點！不要挨近我，因為我會使你聖潔。”主說：“這些人是我鼻中的煙，是整天燒著的火。

你怕誰？你因誰而懼怕，以致你對我說謊呢？你不記念我，也不把我放在心上，是不是因為我長久緘默，你就不懼怕我呢？
