Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also.

As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

And they supported me and did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Gentile.

I am writing to Titus, my true son in the faith that we share. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace.

Paul and Barnabas disagreed with them, arguing vehemently. Finally, the church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem, accompanied by some local believers, to talk to the apostles and elders about this question.The church sent the delegates to Jerusalem, and they stopped along the way in Phoenicia and Samaria to visit the believers. They told them— much to everyone’s joy— that the Gentiles, too, were being converted.When they arrived in Jerusalem, Barnabas and Paul were welcomed by the whole church, including the apostles and elders. They reported everything God had done through them.

So we decided, having come to complete agreement, to send you official representatives, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,“ Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”

After some time Paul said to Barnabas,“ Let’s go back and visit each city where we previously preached the word of the Lord, to see how the new believers are doing.”Barnabas agreed and wanted to take along John Mark.But Paul disagreed strongly, since John Mark had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in their work.Their disagreement was so sharp that they separated. Barnabas took John Mark with him and sailed for Cyprus.

For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas( which means“ Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus.He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.

This they did, entrusting their gifts to Barnabas and Saul to take to the elders of the church in Jerusalem.

Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter, and I stayed with him for fifteen days.

If anyone asks about Titus, say that he is my partner who works with me to help you. And the brothers with him have been sent by the churches, and they bring honor to Christ.

Or is it only Barnabas and I who have to work to support ourselves?

But thank God! He has given Titus the same enthusiasm for you that I have.

Then the Jews stirred up the influential religious women and the leaders of the city, and they incited a mob against Paul and Barnabas and ran them out of town.

Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul.

Aristarchus, who is in prison with me, sends you his greetings, and so does Mark, Barnabas’s cousin. As you were instructed before, make Mark welcome if he comes your way.

They decided that Barnabas was the Greek god Zeus and that Paul was Hermes, since he was the chief speaker.

When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, taking John Mark with them.
