当时王宫总管希勒家的儿子以利亚敬、书记舍伯那和亚萨的儿子史官约亚来到希西家那里，他们的衣服都撕裂了，他们把拉伯沙基的话都告诉了他。希西家王听见了，就把自己的衣服撕裂，披上麻布，来到耶和华的殿。

他们必用麻布束腰，战兢把他们遮盖，各人的脸上满是羞愧，各人的头上都光秃。

他们从远处举目观望，竟认不出他来，就放声大哭，各自撕裂外袍，向天扬起尘土，落在自己头上。他们就七天七夜与他一起坐在地上，没有人向他说一句话，因为他们看出他极其痛苦。

王和他所有听见这一切话的臣仆，都不惊惧，也不撕裂衣服。

于是我来到提勒．亚毕被掳的人那里，他们住在迦巴鲁河边。我在他们居住的地方坐了七天，在他们中间震惊得不知所措。
