should we again break Your commandments, and join in marriage with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor?

我儕何可復犯爾誡、與行事可憎之族聯姻乎、若然、爾豈不怒我、盡行翦滅、以致靡遺、無得免者、

今我若違上帝命、與斯土之民通嫁娶、行不善、必干爾震怒、翦滅我儕、靡有孑遺。

我儕豈可復違主命、與行此可憎事之諸族通嫁娶、苟如是行、必干主震怒、滅我淨盡、不遺一人得免、

Shall we then break your commands again and intermarry with the peoples who commit such detestable practices? Would you not be angry enough with us to destroy us, leaving us no remnant or survivor?

Suppose we don’t obey your commands again. And suppose we continue to marry people who commit sins that you hate. If we do, you will be so angry with us that you will destroy us. You won’t leave us even a few people. You won’t leave anyone alive.

But even so, we are again breaking your commands and intermarrying with people who do these detestable things. Won’t your anger be enough to destroy us, so that even this little remnant no longer survives?

Also in Horeb you provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry enough with you to have destroyed you.

For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed is mixed with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this trespass.”

Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’

In those days I also saw Jews who had married women of Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.And half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod, and could not speak the language of Judah, but spoke according to the language of one or the other people.So I contended with them and cursed them, struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God, saying,“ You shall not give your daughters as wives to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons or yourselves.Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved of his God; and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless pagan women caused even him to sin.Should we then hear of your doing all this great evil, transgressing against our God by marrying pagan women?”

“ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

“ Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” And they fell on their faces.

Unless the Lord of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.

Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.”

Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him,“ See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?

I would have said,“ I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,”Had I not feared the wrath of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand, Lest they should say,“ Our hand is high; And it is not the Lord who has done all this.”’

For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

“ Yet I will leave a remnant, so that you may have some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries.

You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,” says the Lord,“ For I am with you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven you, But I will not make a complete end of you. I will rightly correct you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished.”

And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.
