I sent them to Iddo, the leader of the Levites at Casiphia, to ask him and his relatives and the Temple servants to send us ministers for the Temple of God at Jerusalem.

遣之至加西巴、見民長易多、告之、又告其同宗、殿中奔走者、當令人至此、可於上帝殿、供其職司。

命之往迦西斐雅、見其處族長易多、又傳之所當告易多、及其兄弟、並居迦西斐雅地殿役之言、即勸其遣人來、在我天主之殿供役事、

and I ordered them to go to Iddo, the leader in Kasiphia. I told them what to say to Iddo and his fellow Levites, the temple servants in Kasiphia, so that they might bring attendants to us for the house of our God.

I ordered all those men to go to Iddo. He was the leader in Kasiphia. He and his Levite relatives were temple servants there. I told my men what to say to them. I wanted Iddo and his Levite relatives to bring some attendants to us for the house of our God.

and sent them to Iddo, the leading man at the place Casiphia, telling them what to say to Iddo and his brothers and the temple servants at the place Casiphia, namely, to send us ministers for the house of our God.

And I sent them to Iddo the leading man at the place called Casiphia; and I told them what to say to Iddo and his brothers, the temple servants at the place Casiphia, that is, to bring ministers to us for the house of our God.

And I gave them a command for Iddo the chief man at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say to Iddo and his brethren the Nethinim at the place Casiphia— that they should bring us servants for the house of our God.

And I sent them forth unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and his brethren the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

I sent them to Iddo, the leader at Casiphia, with a message for him and his brothers, the temple servants at Casiphia, that they should bring us ministers for the house of our God.

And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo,[ and] to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

I sent them to Iddo, who was the leader in the place called Casiphia. I told them what to say to Iddo and his relatives, who were the temple servants in Casiphia, so they would bring us attendants for the temple of our God.

I sent them out to Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia; and I told them what they should tell Iddo, and his brothers the temple servants, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God.

The descendants of the following Temple servants returned from exile: Ziha, Hasupha, Tabbaoth,

All the Levites who were thirty years old or older were counted, and the total came to 38,000.Then David said,“ From all the Levites, 24,000 will supervise the work at the Temple of the Lord. Another 6,000 will serve as officials and judges.Another 4,000 will work as gatekeepers, and 4,000 will praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have made.”Then David divided the Levites into divisions named after the clans descended from the three sons of Levi— Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

In all, the Temple servants and the descendants of Solomon’s servants numbered 392.

“ Did Joab put you up to this?” And the woman replied,“ My lord the king, how can I deny it? Nobody can hide anything from you. Yes, Joab sent me and told me what to say.

Then go to the king and tell him the story I am about to tell you.” Then Joab told her what to say.

I myself have chosen your fellow Levites from among the Israelites to be your special assistants. They are a gift to you, dedicated to the Lord for service in the Tabernacle.

This is how the Lord responds:“ If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me. If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman. You must influence them; do not let them influence you!

I left you on the island of Crete so you could complete our work there and appoint elders in each town as I instructed you.

After that the Levites went into the Tabernacle to perform their duties, assisting Aaron and his sons. So they carried out all the commands that the Lord gave Moses concerning the Levites.The Lord also instructed Moses,“ This is the rule the Levites must follow: They must begin serving in the Tabernacle at the age of twenty five,and they must retire at the age of fifty.After retirement they may assist their fellow Levites by serving as guards at the Tabernacle, but they may not officiate in the service. This is how you must assign duties to the Levites.”

Now the Levites will no longer need to carry the Tabernacle and its furnishings from place to place.”In accordance with David’s final instructions, all the Levites twenty years old or older were registered for service.The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.They were in charge of the sacred bread that was set out on the table, the choice flour for the grain offerings, the wafers made without yeast, the cakes cooked in olive oil, and the other mixed breads. They were also responsible to check all the weights and measures.And each morning and evening they stood before the Lord to sing songs of thanks and praise to him.They assisted with the burnt offerings that were presented to the Lord on Sabbath days, at new moon celebrations, and at all the appointed festivals. The required number of Levites served in the Lord’s presence at all times, following all the procedures they had been given.And so, under the supervision of the priests, the Levites watched over the Tabernacle and the Temple and faithfully carried out their duties of service at the house of the Lord.

I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him.

Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,“ Look, I have put my words in your mouth!

Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do.

Some of the people of Israel, as well as some of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and Temple servants, traveled up to Jerusalem with him in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes’ reign.
