Some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers and temple servants, also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.

Some of the Israelites came up to Jerusalem too. They included priests, Levites and musicians. They also included the temple servants and those who guarded the temple gates. It was in the seventh year that Artaxerxes was king.

And there went up also to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king, some of the people of Israel, and some of the priests and Levites, the singers and gatekeepers, and the temple servants.

Some of the people of Israel, as well as some of the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and Temple servants, traveled up to Jerusalem with him in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes’ reign.

Some of the Israelites, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants accompanied him to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.

Some of the children of Israel, the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.

And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

Some of the Israelites, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants accompanied him to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.

In the seventh year of King Artaxerxes, Ezra brought up to Jerusalem some of the Israelites and some of the priests, the Levites, the attendants, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants.

Now these are the heads of their fathers’ households and the genealogical enrollment of those who went up with me from Babylon in the reign of King Artaxerxes:of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, Hattush;of the sons of Shecaniah who was of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him 150 males who were in the genealogical list;of the sons of Pahath moab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah and two hundred males with him;of the sons of Zattu, Shecaniah, the son of Jahaziel and three hundred males with him;and of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan and fifty males with him;and of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah and seventy males with him;and of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael and eighty males with him;of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel and 218 males with him;and of the sons of Bani, Shelomith, the son of Josiphiah and 160 males with him;and of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai and twenty eight males with him;and of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan and 110 males with him;and of the sons of Adonikam, the last ones, these being their names: Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and sixty males with them;and of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, and seventy males with them.Now I assembled them at the river that runs to Ahava, where we camped for three days; and when I paid close attention to the people and the priests, I did not find any Levites there.So I sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, leading men, and for Joiarib and Elnathan, teachers.And I sent them to Iddo the leading man at the place called Casiphia; and I told them what to say to Iddo and his brothers, the temple servants at the place Casiphia, that is, to bring ministers to us for the house of our God.And as the good hand of our God was upon us, they brought us a man of insight from the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel, namely Sherebiah, and his sons and brothers, eighteen men;and Hashabiah and Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, with his brothers and their sons, twenty men;and 220 of the temple servants, whom David and the officials had provided for the service of the Levites, all of them designated by name.

And it came about in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, that wine was before him, and I picked up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence.

The Levites: the sons of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the sons of Hodaviah, 74.The singers: the sons of Asaph, 128.The sons of the gatekeepers: the sons of Shallum, the sons of Ater, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Akkub, the sons of Hatita, and the sons of Shobai, 139 in all.The temple servants: the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth,the sons of Keros, the sons of Siaha, the sons of Padon,the sons of Lebanah, the sons of Hagabah, the sons of Akkub,the sons of Hagab, the sons of Shalmai, the sons of Hanan,the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar, the sons of Reaiah,the sons of Rezin, the sons of Nekoda, the sons of Gazzam,the sons of Uzza, the sons of Paseah, the sons of Besai,the sons of Asnah, the sons of Meunim, the sons of Nephisim,the sons of Bakbuk, the sons of Hakupha, the sons of Harhur,the sons of Bazluth, the sons of Mehida, the sons of Harsha,the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah,the sons of Neziah, and the sons of Hatipha.The sons of Solomon’s servants: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Hassophereth, the sons of Peruda,the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel,the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth hazzebaim, and the sons of Ami.All the temple servants and the sons of Solomon’s servants totaled 392.Now these were the ones who came up from Tel melah, Tel harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they were not able to provide evidence of their fathers’ households and their descendants, whether they were of Israel:the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, and the sons of Nekoda, 652.Of the sons of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and he was called by their name.These searched among their genealogical registration but they could not be located; so they were considered defiled and excluded from the priesthood.The governor said to them that they were not to eat from the most holy things until a priest stood up with Urim and Thummim.The whole assembly together totaled 42,360,besides their male and female slaves who totaled 7,337; and they had two hundred singing men and women.Their horses numbered 736; their mules, 245;their camels, 435; their donkeys, 6,720.Some of the heads of fathers’ households, when they arrived at the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God to erect it on its site.According to their ability they gave to the treasury for the work sixty one thousand gold drachmas, five thousand silver minas, and a hundred priestly garments.Now the priests and the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

The governor gave to the treasury a thousand gold drachmas, fifty basins, and 530 priests’ garments.And some of the heads of fathers’ households gave to the treasury for the work twenty thousand gold drachmas and 2,200 silver minas.What the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand gold drachmas, two thousand silver minas, and sixty seven priests’ garments.Now the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel lived in their cities. And when the seventh month came, the sons of Israel were in their cities.

Now the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all those who had knowledge and understanding,

Moreover, David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals; and the number of those who performed this service was:Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in all, under the direction of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the Lord.Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer to exalt him according to the words of God, for God gave fourteen sons and three daughters to Heman.All of these were under the direction of their father to sing in the house of the Lord, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the direction of the king.Their number who were trained in singing to the Lord, with their relatives, all who were skillful, was 288.They cast lots for their duties, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the pupil.

We also inform you that it is not allowed to impose tax, tribute, or toll on any of the priests, Levites, singers, doorkeepers, temple servants, or other servants of this house of God.

Now these are the ones whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after the ark rested there.They were ministering in song in front of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting until Solomon’s building of the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and they served in their office according to their order.These are the ones who served with their sons: From the sons of the Kohathites were Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.Heman’s brother Asaph stood at his right hand, Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah,the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi.On the left hand were their kinsmen the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.Their kinsmen the Levites were appointed for all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

Now this is the copy of the letter which King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, learned in the words of the commandments of the Lord and His statutes to Israel:“ Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the Law of the God of heaven, perfect peace. And now

Now the gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their relatives( Shallum the chiefbeing stationed until now at the king’s gate to the east). These were the gatekeepers for the camp of the sons of Levi.Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his relatives of his father’s house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, doorkeepers of the tent; and their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the Lord, keepers of the entrance.Phinehas the son of Eleazar was supervisor over them previously, and the Lord was with him.Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the entrance of the tent of meeting.Those who were chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds were 212 in all. They were registered by genealogy in their settlements, those whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their official capacity.So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the Lord, the house of the tent, in their divisions of service.The gatekeepers were on the four sides, to the east, west, north, and south.Their relatives in their settlements were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them;for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, served in an official capacity, and were in charge of the chambers and in charge of the treasuries in the house of God.They spent the night around the house of God, because the watch was committed to them; and they were in charge of opening it morning by morning.

And the elders of the Jews were successful in building through the prophecy of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they finished building following the command of the God of Israel and the decree of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
