至耶路撒冷、詣上帝殿所之二年二月、撒拉鐵子所羅把伯、約薩撻子耶書亞、及所餘同宗祭司利未人、與被虜而歸之眾、肇造耶和華殿、使利未人、自二十歲以上、督建殿之百工。

我復仰觀、見一人手執準繩、我曰、爾將何之、曰、欲量度耶路撒冷、知其長廣。與我言之天使遂出、他天使出迓之、告之曰、疾趨以前、告此少者、曰、耶路撒冷居民、牲畜繁多、必恢廓其城、至於邑郊。

當告設鐵子、猶大方伯所羅把伯、約撒答子、祭司長約書亞、及諸遺民曰、爾中孰有人曾睹古昔之殿、儀容華煥者乎、今見斯殿、弗古若矣。萬有之主耶和華曰、所羅把伯必強乃志、約撒答子、祭司長約書亞必壯乃心、斯土之民、必黽勉以操作、蓋我耶和華眷佑爾眾、昔爾出埃及、我與爾約、迄於今、我之神尚牖爾衷、故勿畏葸。萬有之主耶和華曰、當延片晷、我將震動天地、撼搖山海、亦將鼓盪列邦、列邦之企慕者將至、我將以榮光充盈殿宇、萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。又曰、金銀屬我、又曰、後建之殿、榮光燭照、較先建之殿、尤為朗耀、我必錫平康於斯、萬有之主耶和華已言之矣。大利烏王二年九月二十四日、耶和華命先知哈基云、萬有之主耶和華曰、當問法於祭司曰、浸假有人、衿裹胙肉、以與他餅酒油湯、及諸食物相和、則是物為潔否、祭司曰、否、曰、浸假有人、因捫尸骸而蒙不潔、偶捫上所言諸物、則是物將為不潔否、祭司必曰不潔、哈基又曰、耶和華曰、此國之民、其身不潔、所行之事、所獻之物、亦蒙不潔、是日之前、人未叠石諸石上、以建我殿、所有之事、爾當憶念、

召古列為我牧伯、以成我志。我使彼言耶路撒冷必得建造、又言聖殿、必得肇基。

我又仰觀、有二岡巒、俱以銅鑄、其間四車齊出、一駕赤馬、二駕玄馬、三駕白馬、四駕斑駁馬、我問與我言之天使曰、我主、斯何意與、天使曰、此乃四天神、恆侍於天下之主側、今已出矣、玄馬往北方、白馬往西方、斑駁馬往南方、斑駁馬欲遍歷斯土、天使曰、往哉、遂往、遍歷斯土、天使招我曰、往北方者、已雪我忿、耶和華諭我曰、爾入西番雅子約西亞室、見巴比倫俘囚所遣之黑太、多比、耶太亞、取金銀作冠、使約撒答子祭司長約書亞戴焉。告之曰、萬有之主耶和華曰、有人將至、長若枝柯、自其境而出、建我耶和華之殿、既建斯殿、尊榮丕著、坐於其位、秉厥鈞衡、若祭司在位、兼理二職、使人平康、此冠置於耶和華殿、緣希吝、多比、耶太亞、西番雅、子賢、以作記誌、遠方之人將至、建耶和華殿、俾爾知萬有之主耶和華遣我、如爾聽從爾上帝耶和華命則可、否則不可。
