But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.

But the God of the Jews was watching over their elders. So they didn’t have to stop their work. First a report would have to be sent to Darius. Then they would have to receive his answer in writing.

看哪，耶和華的眼目看顧敬畏他的人和仰望他慈愛的人，

我以求王撥步兵騎兵幫助我們抵擋路上的仇敵為羞愧，因我們曾對王說：「我們上帝施恩的手必幫助凡尋求他的，但他的能力和憤怒必攻擊凡離棄他的。」

我要教導你，指示你當行的路，我要定睛在你身上勸戒你。

因為耶和華的眼目遍察全地，要堅固向他存純正之心的人。你在這事上行得愚昧；因此，以後你必有戰爭。」

絲毫不怕敵人的威脅；以此證明他們會沉淪，你們會得救，這是出於上帝。

從我幼年以來，人屢次苦害我，卻沒有勝過我。扶犁的人在我背上扶犁而耕，耕的犁溝很長。」耶和華是公義的，他砍斷了惡人的繩索。願恨惡錫安的都蒙羞退後！

「現在，河西的達乃總督和示他‧波斯乃，以及他們的同僚，就是住河西的官員，你們當遠離那裏。不要攔阻這上帝殿的工作，任由猶太人的省長和長老在原處建造上帝的這殿。我又降旨，吩咐你們為建造上帝的殿當向猶太人的長老這樣行：從王的財產中，由河西所繳納的貢銀，迅速支付這些人，免得工程停頓。他們向天上的上帝獻燔祭所需用的公牛犢、公綿羊、小綿羊，以及麥子、鹽、酒、油，都要照耶路撒冷祭司的話，每日供給他們，不得有誤；好叫他們獻馨香的祭給天上的上帝，又為王和王眾子的壽命祈禱。我再降旨，無論誰更改這命令，必從他房屋中拆出一根梁木，把他舉起，懸在其上，又使他的房屋為此成為糞堆。任何王或百姓若伸手更改這命令，拆毀在耶路撒冷上帝的這殿，願那立他名在那裏的上帝將他們滅絕。我大流士降這諭旨，你們要速速遵行。」

人的憤怒終必稱謝你，你要以人的餘怒束腰。

耶和華的眼目看顧義人，他的耳朵聽他們的呼求。

因為主的眼看顧義人，他的耳聽他們的祈禱；但主向行惡的人變臉。」
