But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.

But the God of the Jews was watching over their elders. So they didn’t have to stop their work. First a report would have to be sent to Darius. Then they would have to receive his answer in writing.

以斯拉於摩西之律、以色列之上帝耶和華所賜者、為明敏之文士、蒙其上帝耶和華祐、所求於王、王悉許之、彼自巴比倫而上、

施恩於我、在王與其謀士、及有權之軍長前、我蒙我上帝耶和華祐、則強厥志、集以色列族長、與我偕上、

敬畏耶和華、企望其慈惠者、彼垂顧之兮、

蓋耶和華之目遍及天下、凡專心向之者、必顯其力以助之、爾所行者愚也、今而後爾必有戰事、

概毋為敵所驚、其表彰也、於彼則為敗亡、於爾則為濟救、乃由上帝也、

自我幼年、人屢苦我、惟未勝我兮、耕者耕於我背、而長其隴兮、耶和華乃義、斷惡人之索兮、凡憾郇者、願其蒙羞卻退、

爰命河西方伯達乃、及示他波斯乃、與其同儕、河西亞法薩迦人、宜遠其所、建上帝室之工、爾勿阻之、任猶大方伯、及猶大長老、建上帝室於其地、復諭爾所當行於猶大長老、以建上帝室、速由河西國稅中、予之經費、免其工作遲滯、彼所需牡犢、牡綿羊、綿羊羔、為燔祭、奉於天上上帝、以及麥鹽酒油、俱依耶路撒冷祭司所言、日給不絕、俾獻馨香之祭、奉於天上上帝、為王及王眾子之壽祈禱、我已降詔、有人易之、則取其室之梁、而舉其人懸之於上、俾其室為糞場、或君或民、欲廢斯命、毀此耶路撒冷上帝之室、即彼寄名之所、願上帝傾覆之、我大利烏降此詔旨、速行勿緩、○

世人忿怒、誠使爾得頌美、彼之餘怒、爾則禁之兮、

耶和華目注義人、耳聽其呼籲、
