But Tattenai, governor of the province west of the Euphrates River, and Shethar bozenai and their colleagues soon arrived in Jerusalem and asked,“ Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple and restore this structure?”

At that time Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates River, Shethar-bozenai, and their colleagues came to the Jews and asked,“ Who gave you the order to rebuild this temple and finish this structure?”

At that time Tattenai, the governor of the province beyond the Euphrates River, and Shethar bozenai and their colleagues came to them and spoke to them as follows:“ Who issued you a decree to rebuild this temple and to finish this structure?”

At the same time Tattenai the governor of the region beyond the River and Shethar-Boznai and their companions came to them and spoke thus to them:“ Who has commanded you to build this temple and finish this wall?”

At that time Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates River, Shethar-bozenai, and their colleagues came to the Jews and asked,“ Who gave you the order to rebuild this temple and finish this structure?”

At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shetharboznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?

At that time Tattenai governor of Trans-Euphrates, Shethar-Bozenai, and their colleagues came to them and asked,“ Who gave you authority to rebuild this temple and to complete this structure?”

At the same time Tattenai, the governor beyond the River came to them, with Shetharbozenai, and their companions, and asked them,“ Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”

Now therefore, Tattenai, governor beyond the River, Shethar- bozenai, and your companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the River, be ye far from thence:

Then Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, Shethar- bozenai, and their companions, because that Darius the king had sent, did accordingly with all diligence.

Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?

Whosoever there is among you of all his people, his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Jehovah, the God of Israel( he is God), which is in Jerusalem.

And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers that are beyond the River, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done with all diligence,

And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

Be it known unto the king, that the Jews that came up from thee are come to us unto Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.

Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the River, that they may let me pass through till I come unto Judah;and a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the castle which appertaineth to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.Then I came to the governors beyond the River, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.
