Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jozadak set to work to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, began to work. So did Joshua, the son of Jozadak. They began to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. The prophets of God were right there with them. They were helping them.

Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the house of God that is in Jerusalem, and the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jehozadak responded by starting again to rebuild the Temple of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them and helped them.

約薩達的兒子耶書亞和他的弟兄眾祭司，以及撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和他的弟兄，都起來建築以色列上帝的壇，要照神人摩西律法書上所寫的，在壇上獻燔祭。

猶太人的長老因哈該先知和易多的孫子撒迦利亞的預言，就建造這殿，凡事順利。他們遵照以色列上帝的命令和波斯王居魯士、大流士、亞達薛西的諭旨，建造完畢。

天使指給我看：約書亞大祭司站在耶和華的使者面前，撒但站在約書亞的右邊控告他。耶和華向撒但說：「撒但哪，耶和華責備你！揀選耶路撒冷的耶和華責備你！這不是從火中抽出來的一根柴嗎？」約書亞穿着污穢的衣服，站在那使者面前。使者吩咐那些侍立在他面前的說：「脫去他污穢的衣服。」又對約書亞說：「你看，我使你的罪孽離開你，要給你穿上華美的衣服。」

那時，撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯、約撒答的兒子約書亞大祭司，和所有倖存的百姓都聽從耶和華－他們上帝的話，就是哈該先知奉耶和華他們上帝差遣所說的話；百姓在耶和華面前存敬畏的心。耶和華的使者哈該奉耶和華差遣對百姓說：「我與你們同在。這是耶和華說的。」耶和華激發撒拉鐵的兒子猶大省長所羅巴伯、約撒答的兒子約書亞大祭司，和所有倖存百姓的心，他們就來為萬軍之耶和華－他們上帝的殿做工。這是在大流士王第二年六月二十四日。

這月二十四日，耶和華的話再次臨到哈該，說：「你要告訴猶大省長所羅巴伯說，我必震動天地，傾覆列國的寶座，除滅列邦列國的勢力，並傾覆戰車和坐在其上的。馬和騎兵都必跌倒，各人被弟兄的刀所殺。萬軍之耶和華說：撒拉鐵的兒子我僕人所羅巴伯啊，這是耶和華說的，到那日，我必以你為印，因我揀選了你。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。」

我們並不是要控制你們的信心，而是要作你們的同工，讓你們得快樂，因為你們在信仰上已經站得穩了。

他回答我說：「這是耶和華指示所羅巴伯的話。萬軍之耶和華說：不是倚靠勢力，不是倚靠才能，乃是倚靠我的靈方能成事。大山哪，你算甚麼呢？在所羅巴伯面前，你必夷為平地。他安放頂上的那塊石頭，人就歡呼：『願恩惠、恩惠歸與這殿！』」耶和華的話臨到我，說：「所羅巴伯的手立了這殿的根基，他的手也必完成這工，你就知道萬軍之耶和華差遣我到你們這裏。

拿這金銀做冠冕，戴在約撒答的兒子約書亞大祭司的頭上；

所羅巴伯啊，現在，你當剛強！這是耶和華說的。約撒答的兒子約書亞大祭司啊，你當剛強！這是耶和華說的。這地的百姓啊，你們都當剛強做工，因為我與你們同在。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。這是照着你們出埃及時我與你們立約的話。我的靈仍要住在你們中間，你們不必懼怕。萬軍之耶和華如此說：過些時候，我必再一次震動天地、滄海與乾地。我必震動萬國，萬國的珍寶都必運來，我就使這殿充滿榮耀。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。銀子是我的，金子也是我的。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。這後來的殿的榮耀必大過先前的榮耀。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。在這地方我必賜平安。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。』」
