They celebrated the Festival of Shelters as prescribed, and offered burnt offerings each day, based on the number specified by ordinance for each festival day.

Then in accordance with what is written, they celebrated the Festival of Tabernacles with the required number of burnt offerings prescribed for each day.

Then they celebrated the Feast of Booths. They did it according to what is written in the Law. They sacrificed the number of burnt offerings required for each day.

And they kept the Feast of Booths, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number according to the rule, as each day required,

They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded through Moses that the Israelites should dwell in shelters during the festival of the seventh month.So they proclaimed and spread this news throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying,“ Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees to make shelters, just as it is written.”The people went out, brought back branches, and made shelters for themselves on each of their rooftops and courtyards, the court of the house of God, the square by the Water Gate, and the square by the Ephraim Gate.The whole community that had returned from exile made shelters and lived in them. The Israelites had not celebrated like this from the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day. And there was tremendous joy.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old. They are to be unblemished.Their grain offering is to be of fine flour mixed with oil, six quarts with each of the thirteen bulls, four quarts with each of the two rams,and two quarts with each of the fourteen lambs.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink and their drink offerings.“ On the third day present eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the fourth day present ten bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the eighth day you are to hold a solemn assembly; you are not to do any daily work.Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: one bull, one ram, seven male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.

Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Armies, and to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.Should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Armies, rain will not fall on them.And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter, then rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague the LORD inflicts on the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.This will be the punishment of Egypt and all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.

On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out,“ If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.

The overseers insisted,“ Finish your assigned work each day, just as you did when straw was provided.”

As for his allowance, a regular allowance was given to him by the king of Babylon, a portion for each day until the day of his death, for the rest of his life.

“ Tell the Israelites: The Festival of Shelters to the LORD begins on the fifteenth day of this seventh month and continues for seven days.There is to be a sacred assembly on the first day; you are not to do any daily work.You are to present a food offering to the LORD for seven days. On the eighth day you are to hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; you are not to do any daily work.

The Jewish Festival of Shelters was near.

“ This is what you are to offer regularly on the altar every day: two year-old lambs.
