因為為了四圍各地的族民而起了恐怖的心，他們就在殿的基地上建設了祭壇，早晚在祭壇上向永恆主獻上燔祭。

Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.

The people who built the altar were afraid of the nations around them. But they built it anyway. They set it up where it had stood before. They sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord. They offered the morning and evening sacrifices on it.

They set the altar in its place, for fear was on them because of the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, burnt offerings morning and evening.

Even though the people were afraid of the local residents, they rebuilt the altar at its old site. Then they began to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar to the Lord each morning and evening.

They set up the altar on its foundation and offered burnt offerings for the morning and evening on it to the LORD even though they feared the surrounding peoples.

So they set up the altar on its foundation, because they were terrified of the peoples of the lands; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, burnt offerings morning and evening.

國中的平民就使猶大人的手發軟；當他們建造的時候常阻擾他們。

『你要吩咐以色列人說：「你們要小心、將奉給我的供物、就是奉給我的食物、做怡神之香氣獻與我之火祭、在制定節期上獻與我。」你要對他們說：你們所要獻與永恆主的火祭是這樣：完全沒有殘疾、一歲以下的公綿羊羔、每天兩隻、作為不斷獻的燔祭。其一隻公綿羊羔、你要在早晨獻上，其另一隻公綿羊羔、你要在傍晚時分獻上；也獻一伊法十分之一的細麵、用搗成的油一欣的四分之一調和的、作為素祭。這是不斷獻的燔祭、在西乃山所制定、做怡神之香氣獻與永恆主的火祭的。和其一隻公綿羊羔同獻的奠祭酒、要一欣的四分之一；你要在聖所、將醇酒奠與永恆主為奠祭。其另一隻公綿羊羔、你要在傍晚時分獻上，按早晨的素祭和跟羊羔同獻的奠祭禮一樣辦理，做怡神香氣之火祭獻與永恆主。

窺伺我的終日把我蹂躪了；因為打仗攻擊我的人很多。至高的啊，我懼怕的日子、我倚靠的乃是你：乃是上帝；我要誇讚他的話；我倚靠的乃是上帝，我不懼怕；血肉之人能把我怎麼樣呢？

永恆主是我的光，是拯救我的；我還怕誰呢？永恆主是我性命的逃難所；我還懼怕誰呢？那作壞事的人、我的敵人、我的仇敵、走近前來攻擊我，要喫我肉的時候，他們就絆跌仆倒。

他又造了一座銅祭壇，長二十肘，寬二十肘，高十肘。

這就是他們所寄上的呈文本子——『你的臣僕、大河以西那邊的人上奏亞達薛西王。如今請王知道：從王那裏上到我們這裏來的猶大人已經到了耶路撒冷，一個又反叛又極惡的城：他們正在建造起來，正要把城牆築完，把牆根挖好。如今請王知道：這城如果建造起來，城牆如果築完了，他們就不將貢品賦稅服役獻給王了，終久王就受了虧損。如今呢、我們喫的鹽既是朝廷的鹽，自不該見王白受剝奪，故此我們送上呈文來稟知王，請王考查王列祖的記錄，在記錄上王就會查出，知道這城是個反叛的城，對列王和各省都有損害；自古以來其中常行悖逆的事，故此這城遭受了荒廢。我們奏王知道：這城如果建造起來，城牆如果築完了，大河以西那邊之地王就無分了。』

那時我在亞哈瓦河邊那裏宣告禁食，為要在我們的上帝面前刻苦自己，祈求他使我們和我們的小孩跟一切活財物都得了平坦的路。我要求王撥步兵馬兵來幫助我們抵擋路上的仇敵，原覺得慚愧，因為我們曾告訴王說：『我們的上帝的手一定會幫助一切尋求他的得福利，而他的能力和忿怒也一定會攻擊一切離棄他的。』

『以下就是你所要獻在祭壇上的：每天兩隻一歲以內的綿羊羔、不斷地獻上。一隻綿羊羔你要在早晨獻上，另一隻綿羊羔你要在傍晚時分獻上。你要將一伊法的十分之一的細麵、用搗成的油一欣的四分之一調和的、跟這一隻綿羊羔一同獻上；也要用酒一欣的四分之一作為奠祭。那另一隻綿羊羔要在傍晚時分獻上，按早晨的素祭和它的奠祭禮一樣辦理，做怡神的香氣、獻與永恆主的火祭。這要做你們世世代代不斷的燔祭、獻在永恆主面前、會棚的出入處、因為在那裏我要和你們相會、在那裏我要對你們說話。
