Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.

The people who built the altar were afraid of the nations around them. But they built it anyway. They set it up where it had stood before. They sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord. They offered the morning and evening sacrifices on it.

They set the altar in its place, for fear was on them because of the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, burnt offerings morning and evening.

Even though the people were afraid of the local residents, they rebuilt the altar at its old site. Then they began to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar to the Lord each morning and evening.

They set up the altar on its foundation and offered burnt offerings for the morning and evening on it to the LORD even though they feared the surrounding peoples.

於是那地方的居民使猶大人的手發軟，驚擾他們的建築工程。

“你要吩咐以色列人說：‘你們應獻給我的供物，就是獻給我作馨香的火祭的食物，要小心按著日期獻給我。’你又要對他們說：‘你們要獻給耶和華的火祭是這樣：沒有殘疾、一歲的公羊羔，每天兩隻，作為常獻的燔祭。早晨要獻一隻，黃昏獻一隻；也要獻一公斤細麵，用搗成的油一公升調和，作為素祭。這就是常獻的燔祭，是在西奈山規定，作為獻給耶和華馨香的火祭。為每隻公羊羔，要同獻一公升作奠祭的酒；你要在聖所中把醇酒獻給耶和華作奠祭。晚上你要獻上另一隻公羊羔，要照著早晨的素祭，和同獻的奠祭獻上，作馨香的火祭獻給耶和華。

我的仇敵終日踐踏我，攻擊我的人很多。至高者（“至高者”原文放在第2節末，在那裡或譯：“因逞驕傲攻擊我的人很多”）啊！我懼怕的時候，就要倚靠你。靠著神，我要讚美他的話；我倚靠神，就必不懼怕，人能把我怎麼樣呢？

耶和華是我的亮光，是我的救恩，我還怕誰呢？耶和華是我性命的避難所，我還懼誰呢？（本節在《馬索拉文本》包括細字標題）那些作惡的，就是我的敵人、我的仇敵，他們逼近我，要吃我肉的時候，就絆跌仆倒。

他又做了一座銅壇，長九公尺，寬九公尺，高四公尺半。

這就是他們呈給亞達薛西王的奏文副本：“你的臣僕，就是河西那邊的人，上奏亞達薛西王：奏知大王：從你那裡上到我們這裡來的猶大人，已經到了耶路撒冷這座叛逆和邪惡的城；他們進行建造，並且已經修好根基，開始建造城牆。現在奏知大王：如果這城建成，牆垣築好，他們就不再繳稅、進貢和納糧，王的國庫收入必定受損。現在我們既食王家的鹽，不該見王受剝奪，因此上奏稟告王，請王查考先王的記錄，從記錄中查知這城是叛逆的城，對列王和各省都有損害，自古以來，城中常有造反的事，因此這城被拆毀。我們告知王，如果這城建成，牆垣築好，河西那邊的地方就不再是王的了。”

“那時，我在亞哈瓦河邊那裡宣告禁食，為要在我們的神面前謙卑下來，為自己和我們的孩子，以及我們所有的財物尋求神指示一條暢通的道路。我羞於請求王派遣步兵和馬兵幫助我們抵禦路上的仇敵，因為我們曾告訴王說：‘我們神的手必幫助所有尋求他的人，賜福給他們，但他的能力和忿怒必攻擊所有離棄他的人。’

“這就是你要獻在祭壇的：每天兩隻一歲的羊羔。第一隻羊你要在早晨獻上；第二隻在傍晚的時候獻上，和這一隻羊同獻的，要用一公斤細麵與一公升榨成的油混和，又要用一公升酒作奠祭。那另一隻羊你要在傍晚的時候獻上，照著早晨的素祭和它的奠祭一樣辦理，作馨香之氣，作獻給耶和華的火祭。這要作你們世世代代常獻的燔祭，獻在會幕的門口，耶和華的面前，我要在那裡與你們相會，在那裡和你們說話。
