Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.

The people who built the altar were afraid of the nations around them. But they built it anyway. They set it up where it had stood before. They sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord. They offered the morning and evening sacrifices on it.

They set the altar in its place, for fear was on them because of the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, burnt offerings morning and evening.

Even though the people were afraid of the local residents, they rebuilt the altar at its old site. Then they began to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar to the Lord each morning and evening.

They set up the altar on its foundation and offered burnt offerings for the morning and evening on it to the LORD even though they feared the surrounding peoples.

“你要吩咐以色列人说：‘你们应献给我的供物，就是献给我作馨香的火祭的食物，要小心按着日期献给我。’你又要对他们说：‘你们要献给耶和华的火祭是这样：没有残疾、一岁的公羊羔，每天两只，作为常献的燔祭。早晨要献一只，黄昏献一只；也要献一公斤细面，用捣成的油一公升调和，作为素祭。这就是常献的燔祭，是在西奈山规定，作为献给耶和华馨香的火祭。为每只公羊羔，要同献一公升作奠祭的酒；你要在圣所中把醇酒献给耶和华作奠祭。晚上你要献上另一只公羊羔，要照着早晨的素祭，和同献的奠祭献上，作馨香的火祭献给耶和华。

我的仇敌终日践踏我，攻击我的人很多。至高者（“至高者”原文放在第2节末，在那里或译：“因逞骄傲攻击我的人很多”）啊！我惧怕的时候，就要倚靠你。靠着神，我要赞美他的话；我倚靠神，就必不惧怕，人能把我怎么样呢？

耶和华是我的亮光，是我的救恩，我还怕谁呢？耶和华是我性命的避难所，我还惧谁呢？（本节在《马索拉文本》包括细字标题）那些作恶的，就是我的敌人、我的仇敌，他们逼近我，要吃我肉的时候，就绊跌仆倒。

他又做了一座铜坛，长九公尺，宽九公尺，高四公尺半。

这就是他们呈给亚达薛西王的奏文副本：“你的臣仆，就是河西那边的人，上奏亚达薛西王：奏知大王：从你那里上到我们这里来的犹大人，已经到了耶路撒冷这座叛逆和邪恶的城；他们进行建造，并且已经修好根基，开始建造城墙。现在奏知大王：如果这城建成，墙垣筑好，他们就不再缴税、进贡和纳粮，王的国库收入必定受损。现在我们既食王家的盐，不该见王受剥夺，因此上奏禀告王，请王查考先王的记录，从记录中查知这城是叛逆的城，对列王和各省都有损害，自古以来，城中常有造反的事，因此这城被拆毁。我们告知王，如果这城建成，墙垣筑好，河西那边的地方就不再是王的了。”

“那时，我在亚哈瓦河边那里宣告禁食，为要在我们的神面前谦卑下来，为自己和我们的孩子，以及我们所有的财物寻求神指示一条畅通的道路。我羞于请求王派遣步兵和马兵帮助我们抵御路上的仇敌，因为我们曾告诉王说：‘我们神的手必帮助所有寻求他的人，赐福给他们，但他的能力和忿怒必攻击所有离弃他的人。’

“这就是你要献在祭坛的：每天两只一岁的羊羔。第一只羊你要在早晨献上；第二只在傍晚的时候献上，和这一只羊同献的，要用一公斤细面与一公升榨成的油混和，又要用一公升酒作奠祭。那另一只羊你要在傍晚的时候献上，照着早晨的素祭和它的奠祭一样办理，作馨香之气，作献给耶和华的火祭。这要作你们世世代代常献的燔祭，献在会幕的门口，耶和华的面前，我要在那里与你们相会，在那里和你们说话。
