While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and throwing himself down before the house of God, a large crowd of Israelites— men, women and children— gathered around him. They too wept bitterly.

Ezra was praying and admitting to God that his people had sinned. He was weeping and throwing himself down in front of the house of God. Then a large crowd of Israelites gathered around him. Men, women and children were there. They too wept bitterly.

While Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children, gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly.

你僕人和你百姓以色列向此處祈禱的時候，求你在你天上的居所垂聽，垂聽而赦免。

我面向主上帝，禁食，披麻蒙灰，懇切禱告祈求。我向耶和華－我的上帝祈禱、認罪，說：「主啊，你是大而可畏的上帝，向愛主、守主誡命的人守約施慈愛。

「他們要承認自己的罪孽和祖先的罪孽，就是背叛我，行事與我作對的過犯。我也行事與他們作對，把他們遣送到敵人之地。那時，他們未受割禮的心若肯謙卑，也服了罪孽的懲罰，

我向你陳明我的罪，不隱瞞我的惡。我說：「我要向耶和華承認我的過犯」；你就赦免我的罪惡。（細拉）

但願我的頭為水，我的眼為淚水的泉源，我好為我百姓中被殺的人晝夜哭泣。

「我要將那施恩與懇求的靈，澆灌大衛家和耶路撒冷的居民。他們必仰望我，就是他們所扎的那位。他們必為他悲傷，如喪獨子，又為他哀哭，如喪長子。

你們若不聽這話，我的心必因你們的驕傲暗自哭泣；我的眼必痛哭流淚，因為耶和華的羊羣被擄去了。

耶和華對他說：「我已聽了你在我面前的禱告和祈求，將你所建的這殿分別為聖，使我的名永遠立在那裏；我的眼、我的心也必時常在那裏。

聚集百姓，使會眾自潔；召集老年人，聚集孩童和在母懷吃奶的；使新郎出內室，新娘離開洞房。事奉耶和華的祭司要在走廊和祭壇間哭泣，說：「耶和華啊，求你顧惜你的百姓，不要使你的產業受羞辱，在列國中成為笑柄。為何讓人在萬民中說『他們的上帝在哪裏』呢？」耶和華為自己的地發熱心，憐憫他的百姓。

要召集百姓，男人、女人、孩子，和在你城裏寄居的，叫他們都得以聽見，好學習敬畏耶和華－你們的上帝，謹守遵行這律法的一切話。

當歸向耶和華，用言語向他說：「求你除盡罪孽，悅納善行，我們就用嘴唇的祭代替牛犢獻上。

猶大眾人和他們的孩童、妻子、兒女都站在耶和華面前。

幾天之後，我們又出發前行。他們眾人同妻子兒女都送我們到城外，我們都跪在灘上禱告，彼此辭別。

耶和華的使者向以色列眾人說這些話的時候，百姓放聲大哭。於是他們給那地方起名叫波金，並在那裏向耶和華獻祭。
