While Ezra was praying and confessing, weeping and throwing himself down before the house of God, a large crowd of Israelites— men, women and children— gathered around him. They too wept bitterly.

Ezra was praying and admitting to God that his people had sinned. He was weeping and throwing himself down in front of the house of God. Then a large crowd of Israelites gathered around him. Men, women and children were there. They too wept bitterly.

While Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children, gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly.

‘若有祸患临到我们，或刀兵的惩罚，或瘟疫饥荒，我们在急难的时候，站在这殿前向你呼求，你必垂听并且拯救，因为你的名在这殿里。’

你仆人和你百姓以色列向此处祈祷的时候，求你在你天上的居所垂听，垂听而赦免。

尼希米省长、以斯拉祭司文士，和教导百姓的利未人对众百姓说：“今日是耶和华—你们上帝的圣日，不要悲哀，也不要哭泣。”这是因为众百姓听见律法书上的话都哭了。

我面向主上帝，禁食，披麻蒙灰，恳切祷告祈求。我向耶和华—我的上帝祈祷、认罪，说：“主啊，你是大而可畏的上帝，向爱主、守主诫命的人守约施慈爱。

“他们要承认自己的罪孽和祖先的罪孽，就是背叛我，行事与我作对的过犯。我也行事与他们作对，把他们遣送到敌人之地。那时，他们未受割礼的心若肯谦卑，也服了罪孽的惩罚，

我向你陈明我的罪，不隐瞒我的恶。我说：“我要向耶和华承认我的过犯”；你就赦免我的罪恶。（细拉）

但愿我的头为水，我的眼为泪水的泉源，我好为我百姓中被杀的人昼夜哭泣。

“我要将那施恩与恳求的灵，浇灌大卫家和耶路撒冷的居民。他们必仰望我，就是他们所扎的那位。他们必为他悲伤，如丧独子，又为他哀哭，如丧长子。

你们若不听这话，我的心必因你们的骄傲暗自哭泣；我的眼必痛哭流泪，因为耶和华的羊群被掳去了。

耶和华对他说：“我已听了你在我面前的祷告和祈求，将你所建的这殿分别为圣，使我的名永远立在那里；我的眼、我的心也必时常在那里。

聚集百姓，使会众自洁；召集老年人，聚集孩童和在母怀吃奶的；使新郎出内室，新娘离开洞房。事奉耶和华的祭司要在走廊和祭坛间哭泣，说：“耶和华啊，求你顾惜你的百姓，不要使你的产业受羞辱，在列国中成为笑柄。为何让人在万民中说‘他们的上帝在哪里’呢？”耶和华为自己的地发热心，怜悯他的百姓。

要召集百姓，男人、女人、孩子，和在你城里寄居的，叫他们都得以听见，好学习敬畏耶和华—你们的上帝，谨守遵行这律法的一切话。

当归向耶和华，用言语向他说：“求你除尽罪孽，悦纳善行，我们就用嘴唇的祭代替牛犊献上。

犹大众人和他们的孩童、妻子、儿女都站在耶和华面前。

几天之后，我们又出发前行。他们众人同妻子儿女都送我们到城外，我们都跪在滩上祷告，彼此辞别。

耶和华的使者向以色列众人说这些话的时候，百姓放声大哭。于是他们给那地方起名叫波金，并在那里向耶和华献祭。
