耶和華使迦勒底人的王上來攻打他們，在他們的聖殿裡用刀殺了他們的壯丁，少男和少女以及年老衰弱的，他們都不憐惜；耶和華把所有這些人都交在迦勒底王的手裡。

他像仇敵拉弓，他的右手已經預備好。他像敵人把一切悅人眼目的都殺滅了；他如火的忿怒倒在錫安居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）的帳棚上。主好像成了仇敵；他吞滅了以色列和她所有的宮殿，毀壞了她的堅固城。他在猶大居民的中間，增添了悲哀和哭號。他把自己的住所破壞，好像園子一樣；他毀壞了屬他的聚會之處。耶和華使節期和安息日都在錫安被忘記；他在他的盛怒中棄絕了君王和祭司。主丟棄了自己的祭壇，厭棄了自己的聖所。他把宮殿的圍牆，交付在仇敵的手裡；他們在耶和華的殿中喧嚷，好像慶祝節日一樣。

神啊！外族人侵入你的產業，污穢了你的聖殿，使耶路撒冷成為廢墟。（本節在《馬索拉文本》包括細字標題）他們把你僕人的屍首，給空中的飛鳥啄食；把你聖民的肉，給地上的野獸吞噬。他們在耶路撒冷的周圍把聖民的血像水一般倒出，沒有人埋葬他們。
