He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood.

In the visions of God he brought me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, on which was something like the frame of a city to the south.

In the same hour, the fingers of a man’s hand came out and wrote near the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them; for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me;

for Yahweh your God among you is a jealous God, lest the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

For Yahweh your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God. They have provoked me to anger with their vanities. I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people. I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

The Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to the captives. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago( whether in the body, I don’t know, or whether out of the body, I don’t know; God knows), such a one caught up into the third heaven.I know such a man( whether in the body, or outside of the body, I don’t know; God knows),how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands.

You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

Then he said to me,“ Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and saw, northward of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

Then one like the appearance of a man touched me again, and he strengthened me.

As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty; but they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things therein. Therefore I have made it to them as an unclean thing.

Immediately I was in the Spirit. Behold, there was a throne set in heaven, and one sitting on the thronethat looked like a jasper stone and a sardius. There was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald to look at.Around the throne were twenty- four thrones. On the thrones were twenty- four elders sitting, dressed in white garments, with crowns of gold on their heads.Out of the throne proceed lightnings, sounds, and thunders. There were seven lamps of fire burning before his throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.Before the throne was something like a sea of glass, similar to crystal. In the middle of the throne, and around the throne were four living creatures full of eyes before and behind.The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like a man, and the fourth was like a flying eagle.The four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within. They have no rest day and night, saying,“ Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come!”When the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne, to him who lives forever and ever,the twenty- four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives forever and ever, and throw their crowns before the throne, saying,“ Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created!”

“ For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight,” says Yahweh.“ They have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

It will happen, as soon as I leave you, that Yahweh’s Spirit will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.

So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and Yahweh’s hand was strong on me.

for you shall worship no other god; for Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.

But they set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great rushing, saying,“ Blessed be Yahweh’s glory from his place.”

He set the engraved image of Asherah that he had made in the house of which Yahweh said to David and to Solomon his son,“ In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever;

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpetsaying,“ What you see, write in a book and send to the seven assemblies: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. Having turned, I saw seven golden lamp stands.And among the lamp stands was one like a son of man, clothed with a robe reaching down to his feet, and with a golden sash around his chest.His head and his hair were white as white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire.His feet were like burnished brass, as if it had been refined in a furnace. His voice was like the voice of many waters.He had seven stars in his right hand. Out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two- edged sword. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying,“ Don’t be afraid. I am the first and the last,and the Living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forever and ever. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades.Write therefore the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will happen hereafter.The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lamp stands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven assemblies. The seven lamp stands are seven assemblies.
