In front of them stood seventy elders of Israel, and Jaazaniah son of Shaphan was standing among them. Each had a censer in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising.

In front of them stood 70 elders of Israel. Jaazaniah was standing there among them. He is the son of Shaphan. Each elder was holding a shallow cup. A sweet- smelling cloud of incense was rising from the cups.

And before them stood seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had his censer in his hand, and the smoke of the cloud of incense went up.

Seventy leaders of Israel were standing there with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan in the center. Each of them held an incense burner, from which a cloud of incense rose above their heads.

Seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel stood before them. In the middle of them Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan stood, every man with his censer in his hand; and the smell of the cloud of incense went up.

你們各人要拿一個香爐，把香放在上面，各人帶香爐到耶和華面前，共二百五十個；你和亞倫也各拿自己的香爐。」

有火從耶和華那裏出來，吞滅了那上香的二百五十人。

耶和華對摩西說：「你要從以色列的長老中為我召集七十個人，就是你所認識，作百姓的長老和官長的，領他們到會幕，使他們和你一同站在那裏。

耶和華對摩西說：「你和亞倫、拿答、亞比戶，以及以色列長老中的七十人，都要上到耶和華這裏來，遠遠地下拜。

耶和華如此說：「你去買陶匠的瓷瓶，你和百姓中的長老、位尊的祭司

耶和華在雲中降臨，對摩西說話，把降給他的靈分給那七十個長老。靈停在他們身上的時候，他們就說預言，以後卻沒有再說了。

王吩咐希勒家祭司與沙番的兒子亞希甘、米該亞的兒子亞革波、沙番書記和王的臣僕亞撒雅，說：

巴錄就在耶和華殿的上院，靠近耶和華殿的新門口，沙番的兒子基瑪利雅文士的房間裏，宣讀書卷上耶利米的話給眾百姓親耳聽。

你們豈可偷盜，殺害，姦淫，起假誓，向巴力燒香，隨從素不認識的別神，

然而，沙番的兒子亞希甘保護耶利米，不將他交在百姓手中，以免他們把他處死。

王吩咐希勒家與沙番的兒子亞希甘、米迦的兒子亞比頓、沙番書記和王的臣僕亞撒雅，說：

摩西、亞倫、拿答、亞比戶，以及以色列長老中的七十人都上去，

烏西雅既強盛，就心高氣傲，以致敗壞。他干犯耶和華－他的神，進耶和華的殿，要在香壇上燒香。

於是，希勒家祭司和亞希甘、亞革波、沙番、亞撒雅都去見戶勒大女先知，她是掌管禮服的沙龍的妻子；沙龍是哈珥哈斯的孫子，特瓦的兒子。戶勒大住在耶路撒冷第二區。他們向她請教。

約西亞王十八年，王派米書蘭的孫子，亞薩利雅的兒子沙番書記上耶和華殿去，說：

希勒家大祭司對沙番書記說：「我在耶和華殿裏發現了律法書。」希勒家把書遞給沙番，沙番就讀了。

他藉沙番的兒子以利亞薩和希勒家的兒子基瑪利的手送去；他們二人是猶大王西底家差往巴比倫去見巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的。

烏西雅發怒，手拿香爐要燒香。他在耶和華殿中香壇旁向眾祭司發怒的時候，他的額頭在眾祭司面前忽然長出痲瘋。

我要去見尊貴的人，向他們說話，他們應該知道耶和華的作為，知道他們神的法則。」然而，這些人卻齊心將軛折斷，掙開繩索。

至於猶大地剩下的百姓，就是巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒所留下的，巴比倫王立了沙番的孫子，亞希甘的兒子基大利作他們的省長。

耶和華啊，我們和我們的君王、官長、祖先因得罪了你，臉上就都蒙羞。
