I will turn my face away from the people, and robbers will desecrate the place I treasure. They will enter it and will defile it.

Don’t forget your suffering people forever.Remember your covenant promises, for the land is full of darkness and violence!Don’t let the downtrodden be humiliated again. Instead, let the poor and needy praise your name.Arise, O God, and defend your cause. Remember how these fools insult you all day long.Don’t overlook what your enemies have said or their growing uproar.

The wicked think,“ God isn’t watching us! He has closed his eyes and won’t even see what we do!”

The nations will then know why Israel was sent away to exile— it was punishment for sin, for they were unfaithful to their God. Therefore, I turned away from them and let their enemies destroy them.I turned my face away and punished them because of their defilement and their sins.

O Lord, you know all about this. Do not stay silent. Do not abandon me now, O Lord.

How long, O God, will you allow our enemies to insult you? Will you let them dishonor your name forever?Why do you hold back your strong right hand? Unleash your powerful fist and destroy them.
