這一點、弟兄們、我卻要說：時期縮短了。今後有妻子的、要像沒有一樣；哭泣的要像不哭泣；喜樂的要像不喜樂；置買的要像沒擁有甚麼；享用世界的、要像不一味享用。因為這世界的形態正在過去。

『主永恆主這麼說：災禍！獨一的災禍！看吧！就來到了！結局到了！那結局到了！它醒了起來攻擊你；看吧！就來到了！境內的居民哪，所定的災禍臨到你了！時候到了！日子近了！是鬨嚷擾亂，並不是山上歡呼的日子。

『看哪，日子！看哪，到了！所定的災禍已經發出；「枉法」開了花了，驕橫發了芽了。

主永恆主這麼說：『你要拍掌頓腳說哈哈，高興以色列家行這一切可憎之壞事所要遭受的報應，就是他們必倒斃於刀劍饑荒和瘟疫之下。在遠處的必死於瘟疫，在近處的必倒斃於刀劍之下，那剩下的、得保存的人、必死於饑荒；這樣、我就在他們身上發盡我的烈怒了。

看哪，攻城的土堆已經倒到這城，要攻取它了；這城也因刀劍饑荒瘟疫的緣故交於攻擊它、的迦勒底人手中了；你所說的話都成就了；看哪，你眼看着就到了。然而主永恆主啊，卻是你親自對我說過的：你說：『要用銀子為你自己買那田地，請見證人作證』——其實這城已交於迦勒底人手中了。」』

看吧，永恆主必將大地弄空，使它變為荒蕪；他必扭歪地的面貌，使它的居民四散。那時人民怎樣，祭司也必怎樣；僕人怎樣，主人也必怎樣；婢女怎樣，主母也必怎樣；買物的怎樣，賣物的也必怎樣；借給人的怎樣，向人借的也必怎樣；放債的怎樣，借債的也必怎樣。

賣的人儘他們活着的時候，總不能返回再得所賣的，因為永恆主的烈怒已臨到所有的蜂擁羣眾；它必不返回：沒有人在他的罪罰中能保持得住他的性命。『他們直吹號角，準備一切，卻沒有人去赴戰，因為我的烈怒已臨到所有的蜂擁羣眾。
