“‘ Behold, the day! Behold, it comes! Your doom has gone out. The rod has blossomed. Pride has budded.

“‘看哪，这日子到了！灾害已经发出，杖已经开花，狂傲已经发芽。

「看哪，看哪，日子快到了；所定的災已經發出！杖已經開花，驕傲已經發芽。

「看哪，那日子！看哪，已來到！厄運已經發生！杖已開花，驕傲已發芽。

「看啊，看啊，日子到了，大禍臨頭了！杖已經發芽，傲慢已經開花。

“‘看哪，這日子到了！災害已經發出，杖已經開花，狂傲已經發芽。

『看哪，日子！看哪，到了！所定的災禍已經發出；「枉法」開了花了，驕橫發了芽了。

試觀其日已屆、為爾所定之報至矣、杖已舒蕊、驕傲已萌芽矣、

爾之日期已至、災亦次第及爾、驕侈者將至、以杖擊爾、芽櫱已萌、花蕊盡發、

其日將至、視哉已屆、災禍已命、責爾之杖已長、罰爾之驕傲者已興、責爾之杖已長罰爾之驕傲者已興原文作其杖已茁驕傲已萌

“‘ See, the day! See, it comes! Doom has burst forth, the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed!

“‘ The day for me to punish you is here! It is here! Death has arrived. The time is ripe for you to be judged. Your pride has grown so much that you will be destroyed.

“ Behold, the day! Behold, it comes! Your doom has come; the rod has blossomed; pride has budded.

“ The day of judgment is here; your destruction awaits! The people’s wickedness and pride have blossomed to full flower.

Here is the day! Here it comes! Doom is on its way. The rod has blossomed; arrogance has bloomed.

‘ Behold, the day! Behold, it is coming! Your doom has gone forth; the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed.

‘ Behold, the day! Behold, it has come! Doom has gone out; The rod has blossomed, Pride has budded.

Behold, the day, behold, it cometh: thy doom is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

Look, the day is coming! Doom has gone out. The rod has blossomed; arrogance has bloomed.

Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

“ Look, the day! Look, it is coming! Doom has gone out! The staff has budded, pride has blossomed!

Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation!

Fire has gone out of its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong branch to be a scepter to rule.’ This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”

It is sharpened that it may make a slaughter. It is polished that it may be as lightning. Should we then make mirth? The rod of my son condemns every tree.

The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!

“ For there is a trial. What if even the rod that condemns will be no more?” says the Lord Yahweh.

Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.

For when they are saying,“ Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
