在諸高岡山巔、綠樹茂橡之下、即昔獻馨香於偶像之所、有被殺者在壇四周之偶像中、爾則知我乃耶和華、

爰在高岡之巔、茂林之下、祭壇之側、昔焚香祭偶之所、惟見尸骸與偶像、共相枕藉、以是可知我乃耶和華、

我使其屍偃仆在其偶像中、在其祭壇四周、在各高山、各山巔、各綠樹下、各茂盛橡樹下、即焚香事其諸偶像各處、其時彼則知我乃主、

Then they will know that I am the Lord. Their people will lie dead among the statues of their gods around their altars. Their bodies will lie on every high hill and every mountaintop. They will lie under every green tree and leafy oak tree. They used to offer sweet- smelling incense to all their gods at those places.

And you shall know that I am the Lord, when their slain lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, under every green tree, and under every leafy oak, wherever they offered pleasing aroma to all their idols.

They will know that I am the Lord when their dead lie scattered among their idols and altars on every hill and mountain and under every green tree and every great shade tree— the places where they offered sacrifices to their idols.

You will all know that I am the LORD when their slain lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the mountaintops, and under every green tree and every leafy oak— the places where they offered pleasing aromas to all their idols.

When I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that aroused my anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.

They sacrifice on the mountaintops and burn offerings on the hills, under oak, poplar and terebinth, where the shade is pleasant. Therefore your daughters turn to prostitution and your daughters-in-law to adultery.

“ Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds; you said,‘ I will not serve you!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every spreading tree you lay down as a prostitute.

They also set up for themselves high places, sacred stones and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every spreading tree.

Your altars will be demolished and your incense altars will be smashed; and I will slay your people in front of your idols.I will lay the dead bodies of the Israelites in front of their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.Wherever you live, the towns will be laid waste and the high places demolished, so that your altars will be laid waste and devastated, your idols smashed and ruined, your incense altars broken down, and what you have made wiped out.Your people will fall slain among you, and you will know that I am the Lord.

He offered sacrifices and burned incense at the high places, on the hilltops and under every spreading tree.

You burn with lust among the oaks and under every spreading tree; you sacrifice your children in the ravines and under the overhanging crags.The idols among the smooth stones of the ravines are your portion; indeed, they are your lot. Yes, to them you have poured out drink offerings and offered grain offerings. In view of all this, should I relent?You have made your bed on a high and lofty hill; there you went up to offer your sacrifices.

“ You will be ashamed because of the sacred oaks in which you have delighted; you will be disgraced because of the gardens that you have chosen.

Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty- five thousand in the Assyrian camp. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.

“ Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one who is among those who eat the flesh of pigs, rats and other unclean things— they will meet their end together with the one they follow,” declares the Lord.

a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of impure meat;

Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.”

During the reign of King Josiah, the Lord said to me,“ Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has committed adultery there.
