Again, take a few of these and throw them into the fire and burn them up. A fire will spread from there to all Israel.

Next, get a few more hairs. Throw them into the fire. Burn them up. The fire will spread to all the people of Israel.”

And of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

Then take some of these hairs out and throw them into the fire, burning them up. A fire will then spread from this remnant and destroy all of Israel.

Take some more of them, throw them into the fire, and burn them in it. A fire will spread from it to the whole house of Israel.

Take again some of them and throw them into the fire and burn them in the fire; from it a fire will spread to all the house of Israel.

Then take some of them again and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will go out into all the house of Israel.

And of these again shalt thou take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; therefrom shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

Take some more of them, throw them into the fire, and burn them in it. A fire will spread from it to the whole house of Israel.

Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire;[ for] thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

Of these again you shall take, and cast them into the middle of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From it a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

七月中，王室後裔以利沙瑪的孫子，尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶着十個人來，擊殺了基大利和同他在米斯巴的猶大人與迦勒底人，把他們殺死。

逃難的人站在希實本的蔭下，筋疲力盡，因為有火從希實本發出，有火焰出自西宏，燒盡摩押的鬢角和鬧鬨人的頭頂。

猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民哪，你們當自行割禮，歸耶和華，將你們心裏的污穢除掉；免得我的憤怒因你們的惡行發作，如火燃起，甚至無人能熄滅！」

尼布甲尼撒二十三年，尼布撒拉旦護衛長擄去猶大人七百四十五人；共有四千六百人。

七月中，王的大臣，就是王室後裔以利沙瑪的孫子、尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶着十個人，來到米斯巴，亞希甘的兒子基大利那裏；他們在米斯巴一同吃飯。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和同他來的那十個人起來，用刀擊殺沙番的孫子，亞希甘的兒子基大利，就是巴比倫王所立為當地省長的，把他殺死。以實瑪利把所有在米斯巴與基大利一起的猶大人，以及他們在那裏所遇見的迦勒底人和士兵都殺了。他殺了基大利的第二天，還沒有人知道的時候，有八十人從示劍、示羅和撒瑪利亞前來，鬍鬚剃去，衣服撕裂，身體劃破，手拿素祭和乳香，要奉到耶和華的殿。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利從米斯巴出來迎接他們，隨走隨哭，遇見了他們，就對他們說：「你們可以到亞希甘的兒子基大利那裏。」他們到了城中，尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和與他一起的人就把他們殺了，丟在坑裏。只是他們中間有十個人對以實瑪利說：「不要殺我們，因為我們有許多大麥、小麥、油和蜜藏在田間。」於是他住手，沒有在弟兄中間殺他們。以實瑪利把那些因基大利事件所殺之人的屍首都丟在坑裏；這坑是從前亞撒王因怕以色列王巴沙所挖的。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利把那些被殺的人填滿了坑。以實瑪利把米斯巴剩下的人，就是眾公主和仍住在米斯巴所有的百姓都擄去，他們原是尼布撒拉旦護衛長交給亞希甘的兒子基大利的。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利擄了他們，要到亞捫人那裏去。加利亞的兒子約哈難和與他一起的軍官，聽見尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利所做的一切惡事，就帶領眾人前往，要和尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利爭戰，他們在基遍的大水池旁遇見他。在以實瑪利那裏的眾人看見加利亞的兒子約哈難和與他一起的軍官，就都歡喜。這樣，以實瑪利從米斯巴所擄去的眾人都轉身歸向加利亞的兒子約哈難。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和八個人脫離約哈難的手，逃到亞捫人那裏去。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利殺了亞希甘的兒子基大利，從米斯巴把所有倖存的百姓、士兵、婦女、孩童、太監擄到基遍之後，加利亞的兒子約哈難和與他一起的軍官把他們都搶回來，帶到靠近伯利恆的基羅特金罕住下，要到埃及去，躲避迦勒底人。他們懼怕迦勒底人，因為尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利殺了巴比倫王所立管理那地的亞希甘的兒子基大利。
