Again, take a few of these and throw them into the fire and burn them up. A fire will spread from there to all Israel.

Next, get a few more hairs. Throw them into the fire. Burn them up. The fire will spread to all the people of Israel.”

And of these again you shall take some and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

Then take some of these hairs out and throw them into the fire, burning them up. A fire will then spread from this remnant and destroy all of Israel.

Take some more of them, throw them into the fire, and burn them in it. A fire will spread from it to the whole house of Israel.

Take again some of them and throw them into the fire and burn them in the fire; from it a fire will spread to all the house of Israel.

Then take some of them again and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will go out into all the house of Israel.

And of these again shalt thou take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; therefrom shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

但是七月間、王家後裔以利沙瑪的孫子尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利卻帶着十個人一同來，擊打了基大利以至於死，又擊殺了同他在米斯巴的猶大人和迦勒底人。

『逃跑的人精疲力盡，站在希實本的蔭庇下；有火從希實本發出，有火燄出於西宏的家，燒燬了摩押的鬢邊，和鬨嚷之人的頭頂。

猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民哪，你們要再行割禮歸永恆主，將你們的心的包皮除掉，免得我的烈怒因你們行為之敗壞而發出，正如同火、一直焚燒，無人能撲滅。』

尼布甲尼撒二十三年、護衛長尼布撒拉旦使猶大人七百四十五名流亡；總共四千六百人。

七月間以利沙瑪的孫子尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利、就是王家後裔、王的大臣、帶了十個人跟着他到米斯巴來見亞希甘的兒子基大利；他們在米斯巴那裏一同喫飯。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和跟着他的那十個人就起來，用刀擊殺了沙番的孫子亞希甘的兒子基大利，殺死了他；他是巴比倫王所立為總督來管理這地的。所有跟着他的、就是跟着基大利的猶大人、以及當場在那裏的迦勒底人、以實瑪利都給擊殺了。殺死了基大利的第二天，還沒有人知道的時候，有人從示劍、示羅、和撒瑪利亞來，共有八十人，鬍鬚都剃光，衣服全撕裂，身體都刻劃破，手裏拿着素祭和乳香、要奉到永恆主的殿。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利從米斯巴出來迎接他們，一邊走、一邊哭；遇見了他們，就對他們說：『你們來見亞希甘的兒子基大利吧！』他們到了城中，尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利和跟着他的人、就把他們宰殺，拋在坑中。只是他們中間有十個人對以實瑪利說：『不要殺死我們；因為我們有許多小麥、大麥、油、蜜、在田間埋藏着。』於是他們住了手，沒有在他們族弟兄中把他們殺死。以實瑪利把他所擊殺的人的一切屍身拋進的坑是個大坑；這坑是從前亞撒王為了提防以色列王巴沙而造的；尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利將那些被刺殺的人給填滿了。以實瑪利將米斯巴所有餘剩之民：——包括王的女兒們以及在米斯巴餘剩下來的眾民，原是護衛長尼布撒拉旦交給亞希甘的兒子基大利管理的——都擄了去。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利將他們擄了去，要過河去到亞捫人那裏。加利亞的兒子約哈難和跟着他的眾將軍聽見了尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利所行的一切壞事，就帶領所有的人前往，要攻擊尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，就在基遍的大水池旁碰着了他。那些跟着以實瑪利去的眾民一看見加利亞的兒子約哈難、和跟着他的眾將軍，就歡喜。於是以實瑪利從米斯巴所擄了去的眾民都轉身回來，向着加利亞的兒子約哈難走來。尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利帶着八個人逃脫約哈難的手，到亞捫人那裏去。這樣、以實瑪利擊殺了亞希甘的兒子基大利和約哈拿從基遍所帶回來的男人、就是軍兵、婦女、幼童和太監、以後，加利亞的兒子約哈難和跟着他的眾將軍、便將所有餘剩之民、就是尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利從米斯巴所擄了去的人民，都奪回來。他們去到靠近伯利恆的基羅特金罕住下，想要進埃及去；這是因迦勒底人的緣故；因為他們懼怕迦勒底人，因為尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利擊殺了亞希甘的兒子基大利，就是巴比倫王所立為總督來管理這地的。
