As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep.

他把我帶到那裡，我見有一個人，他看來像銅，手裡拿著麻繩和測量竿，站在門口。

那對我說話的天使拿著一根金的蘆葦，要量那城、城門和城牆。

他既然被高舉到神的右邊，從父領受了所應許的聖靈，就把他澆灌下來，這就是你們所看見所聽見的。

那些受了割禮、跟彼得一同來的信徒，因為聖靈的恩賜（“恩賜”或譯：“恩賞”）也澆灌在外族人的身上，都很驚訝；原來聽見他們講方言，尊神為大。於是彼得說：

我就想起主所說的話：‘約翰用水施洗，但你們要受聖靈的洗。’神既然把同樣的恩賜（“恩賜”或譯：“恩賞”）給他們，像給我們這些信了主耶穌基督的人一樣，我是誰，我能夠阻止神嗎？”眾人聽見這些話，就默然無聲，把榮耀歸給神，說：“這樣看來，神也把悔改的心賜給外族人，使他們得生命。”

我又舉目觀看，看見一人手裡拿著量度用的繩子。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為2:5）

他們都被聖靈充滿，就照著聖靈所賜給他們的口才，用別種語言說出話來。

有一根好像量尺的蘆葦賜給了我，又有話說：“你起來，把神的聖所和祭壇，以及在裡面敬拜的人，都量一量、數一數。

我要使我父的應許臨到你們身上，你們當在城裡等候，直到得著從上面來的能力。”
