Instead of carrying out your duty in regard to my holy things, you put others in charge of my sanctuary.

You did not do what I told you to. You did not take care of my holy things. Instead, you put other people in charge of my temple.” ’ ”

And you have not kept charge of my holy things, but you have set others to keep my charge for you in my sanctuary.

Instead of safeguarding my sacred rituals, you have hired foreigners to take charge of my sanctuary.

You have not kept charge of my holy things but have appointed others to keep charge of my sanctuary for you.’

And you have not taken responsibility for My holy things yourselves, but you have appointed foreigners to take responsibility for My sanctuary.”

And you have not kept charge of My holy things, but you have set others to keep charge of My sanctuary for you.”

And ye have not kept the charge of my holy things; but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves.

You have not kept charge of My holy things but have appointed others to keep charge of My sanctuary for you.

And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves.

You have not kept charge of my holy things, but you have assigned foreigners to keep charge of my sanctuary for you.

You have not performed the duty of my holy things; but you have set performers of my duty in my sanctuary for yourselves.”

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: (niv)

And so the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord. (niv)

“ Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings the Israelites consecrate to me, so they will not profane my holy name. I am the Lord.“ Say to them:‘ For the generations to come, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean and yet comes near the sacred offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the Lord, that person must be cut off from my presence. I am the Lord.“‘ If a descendant of Aaron has a defiling skin disease or a bodily discharge, he may not eat the sacred offerings until he is cleansed. He will also be unclean if he touches something defiled by a corpse or by anyone who has an emission of semen,or if he touches any crawling thing that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food.He must not eat anything found dead or torn by wild animals, and so become unclean through it. I am the Lord.“‘ The priests are to perform my service in such a way that they do not become guilty and die for treating it with contempt. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.“‘ No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it.But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if slaves are born in his household, they may eat his food.If a priest’s daughter marries anyone other than a priest, she may not eat any of the sacred contributions.But if a priest’s daughter becomes a widow or is divorced, yet has no children, and she returns to live in her father’s household as in her youth, she may eat her father’s food. No unauthorized person, however, may eat it.“‘ Anyone who eats a sacred offering by mistake must make restitution to the priest for the offering and add a fifth of the value to it.The priests must not desecrate the sacred offerings the Israelites present to the Lordby allowing them to eat the sacred offerings and so bring upon them guilt requiring payment. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.’”The Lord said to Moses,“ Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them:‘ If any of you— whether an Israelite or a foreigner residing in Israel— presents a gift for a burnt offering to the Lord, either to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering,you must present a male without defect from the cattle, sheep or goats in order that it may be accepted on your behalf.Do not bring anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.When anyone brings from the herd or flock a fellowship offering to the Lord to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, it must be without defect or blemish to be acceptable.Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as a food offering presented to the Lord.You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow.You must not offer to the Lord an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn or cut. You must not do this in your own land,and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.’”The Lord said to Moses,“ When a calf, a lamb or a goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as a food offering presented to the Lord.Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep and its young on the same day.“ When you sacrifice a thank offering to the Lord, sacrifice it in such a way that it will be accepted on your behalf.It must be eaten that same day; leave none of it till morning. I am the Lord.“ Keep my commands and follow them. I am the Lord.Do not profane my holy name, for I must be acknowledged as holy by the Israelites. I am the Lord, who made you holyand who brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord.” (niv)

He said to me,“ The room facing south is for the priests who guard the temple,and the room facing north is for the priests who guard the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, who are the only Levites who may draw near to the Lord to minister before him.” (niv)

They are to be responsible to you and are to perform all the duties of the tent, but they must not go near the furnishings of the sanctuary or the altar. Otherwise both they and you will die.They are to join you and be responsible for the care of the tent of meeting— all the work at the tent— and no one else may come near where you are.“ You are to be responsible for the care of the sanctuary and the altar, so that my wrath will not fall on the Israelites again. (niv)

And I will appoint them to guard the temple for all the work that is to be done in it. (niv)

Then I set apart twelve of the leading priests, namely, Sherebiah, Hashabiah and ten of their brothers,and I weighed out to them the offering of silver and gold and the articles that the king, his advisers, his officials and all Israel present there had donated for the house of our God.I weighed out to them 650 talents of silver, silver articles weighing 100 talents, 100 talents of gold,20 bowls of gold valued at 1,000 darics, and two fine articles of polished bronze, as precious as gold.I said to them,“ You as well as these articles are consecrated to the Lord. The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the Lord, the God of your ancestors.Guard them carefully until you weigh them out in the chambers of the house of the Lord in Jerusalem before the leading priests and the Levites and the family heads of Israel.”Then the priests and Levites received the silver and gold and sacred articles that had been weighed out to be taken to the house of our God in Jerusalem. (niv)

In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you (niv)

you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it.” (niv)

They alone are to enter my sanctuary; they alone are to come near my table to minister before me and serve me as guards. (niv)

But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain. I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift. Anyone else who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.” (niv)
