“‘ A priest must not defile himself by going near a dead person; however, if the dead person was his father or mother, son or daughter, brother or unmarried sister, then he may defile himself.

“ A priest must not make himself‘ unclean’ by going near a dead person. But suppose the dead person was his father or mother. Or suppose it was his son or daughter or brother or unmarried sister. Then the priest may make himself‘ unclean.’

Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.

‘ Whatever man of the descendants of Aaron, who is a leper or has a discharge, shall not eat the holy offerings until he is clean. And whoever touches anything made unclean by a corpse, or a man who has had an emission of semen,

And the Lord said to Moses,“ Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them:‘ None shall defile himself for the dead among his people,except for his relatives who are nearest to him: his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, and his brother;also his virgin sister who is near to him, who has had no husband, for her he may defile himself.Otherwise he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.‘ They shall not make any bald place on their heads, nor shall they shave the edges of their beards nor make any cuttings in their flesh.They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God, for they offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.

Then He said to another,“ Follow Me.” But he said,“ Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”Jesus said to him,“ Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.”

Then another of His disciples said to Him,“ Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”But Jesus said to him,“ Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
