When they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their detestable practices. So I destroyed them in my anger.

The people of Israel placed their own doorway next to my holy doorway. They put their doorposts right beside mine. Nothing but a thin wall separated us. They treated my name as if it were not holy. I hated it when they did that. So I became angry with them and destroyed them.

你們除了行這一切可憎的事之外，還在你們把脂肪和血獻給我作食物的時候，把身心都未受割禮的外族人帶進我的聖所，玷污了我的殿，違背了我的約。

他又在耶和華的殿中築壇，耶和華曾經指著這殿說：“我的名必永遠留在耶路撒冷。”

他伸出一隻形狀像手的東西，抓住我的一綹頭髮；靈就把我提到天地之間，在神的異象中，他把我帶往耶路撒冷，到聖殿北門內院的入口處，在那裡有令神憤恨的偶像的座位，就是觸動神憤恨的。不料，在那裡有以色列神的榮耀，形狀與我在平原所見的一樣。他對我說：“人子啊！舉目向北觀看。”我就舉目向北觀看，見祭壇門的北面，在入口的地方，有令神憤恨的偶像。他又對我說：“人子啊！以色列家在這裡所行的，就是他們行這極其可憎的事，使我遠離我的聖所，你看見了嗎？但你還要看見更加可憎的事。”他領我到院子的門口；我觀看，見牆上有一個洞。他對我說：“人子啊，挖牆吧！”我就挖牆，不料，見有一道門。他對我說：“你進去，看看他們在這裡所行可憎的惡事。”於是我進去觀看，見四圍的牆上刻著各種形狀的爬行的動物，和可憎惡的走獸，以及以色列家所有的偶像。站在這些像面前的有以色列家的七十個長老，沙番的兒子雅撒尼亞也站在他們中間；各人手裡拿著自己的香爐，香的煙往上升。他對我說：“人子啊！以色列家的眾長老各在自己偶像的房間裡暗中所行的，你看見了嗎？他們說：‘耶和華看不見我們，耶和華已經離開這地了。’”他又對我說：“你還要看見他們行更加可憎的事。”他領我到耶和華殿朝北的門口，在那裡有些婦女坐著，為搭模斯哭泣。他對我說：“人子啊，你看見了嗎？你還要看見比這些更可憎的事。”他又領我到耶和華殿的內院，在耶和華殿的門口，就是在走廊和祭壇中間，約有二十五個人，背向耶和華的殿，面向著東方；他們正在朝著東面叩拜太陽。

他又在耶和華的殿內建造祭壇，耶和華曾指著這殿說：“我要立我的名在耶路撒冷。”他又在耶和華殿的兩院中為天上的萬象建造祭壇。他又把他的兒子用火燒為祭（“把他的兒子用火燒為祭”直譯是“使他的兒子經過進入火中”），並且算命、觀兆，交鬼和行巫術；多行耶和華看為惡的事，惹他發怒。他又把自己所做的亞舍拉雕像安放在聖殿中，耶和華曾對大衛和他的兒子所羅門論到這殿說：“我要在這殿和我從以色列眾支派中揀選的耶路撒冷，立我的名，直到永遠。

至於耶和華面前的銅祭壇，他把它從殿前，從新壇與耶和華殿中間移至新壇的北邊。亞哈斯王吩咐烏利亞祭司說：“要在這大祭壇上焚燒早晨的燔祭、黃昏的素祭、王的燔祭牲和素祭、所有國民的燔祭和素祭；也要在壇上澆上他們的奠祭，以及所有燔祭牲和平安祭牲的血。至於銅祭壇，我要用來求問神。”

她們宰殺了自己的兒女獻給偶像，同一天又進了我的聖所，把聖所褻瀆。這就是她們在我殿中所行的。

他又除去猶大列王獻給日頭的馬匹；這些馬匹是在耶和華殿的入口處，靠近太監拿單．米勒在院子裡的住宅。他又把獻給日頭的戰車用火燒掉。他又把亞哈斯的樓房頂上，猶大列王所做的祭壇，和瑪拿西在耶和華殿的兩院中所做的祭壇拆毀，就地打碎，把它們的灰塵倒進汲淪溪去。
