When they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their detestable practices. So I destroyed them in my anger.

The people of Israel placed their own doorway next to my holy doorway. They put their doorposts right beside mine. Nothing but a thin wall separated us. They treated my name as if it were not holy. I hated it when they did that. So I became angry with them and destroyed them.

祂好像伸出一隻手，抓住我的頭髮。在異象中，靈把我舉到天地之間，將我帶到耶路撒冷聖殿內院的北門，那裡供奉著惹耶和華憤恨的神像。我忽然看見那裡有以色列上帝的榮耀，跟我在平原所見的一樣。祂對我說：「人子啊，你舉目北望。」於是，我舉目朝北一望，見在祭壇門的北面有惹耶和華憤恨的神像。祂又對我說：「人子啊，你看見以色列人的所作所為了嗎？他們在這裡行那些極其可憎的事，以致我遠離我的聖所。你會看到更可憎的事。」祂帶我到院子的門口，我看見牆上有一個洞。祂對我說：「人子啊，你挖這牆。」我挖開牆後，看見一道門。祂對我說：「你進去看看他們在這裡做的邪惡可憎的事吧。」我進去後，看見四周的牆上畫滿了各種爬蟲、可憎的獸類和以色列人拜的神像。神像前面站著以色列的七十個長老，沙番的兒子雅撒尼亞也在當中，他們每人手中都拿著香爐，煙霧繚繞。祂又對我說：「人子啊，你看見以色列的長老在自己藏神像的房間裡暗中所做的了嗎？他們說，『耶和華看不見我們，祂已經拋棄了這片土地。』」祂繼續說：「你會看到他們做更可憎的事。」祂帶我來到耶和華的殿外院的北門，看見一些婦女坐在那裡為搭模斯神像哭泣。祂對我說：「人子啊，你看見了嗎？你會看到更可憎的事。」祂帶我來到耶和華殿的內院，在殿門口，走廊和祭壇中間約有二十五個人背向耶和華的殿，面向東方朝拜太陽。

耶和華曾指著祂的殿說：「我的名必在耶路撒冷」，而他卻在耶和華的殿內建造異教的祭壇。他在耶和華殿的兩個院子裡建造祭拜天上萬象的祭壇；他燒死自己的兒子，獻作祭物；他行邪術，占卜，求問靈媒和巫師，做了許多耶和華視為惡的事，惹耶和華發怒。他雕刻亞舍拉神像，放在耶和華的殿中。關於這殿，耶和華曾對大衛和他兒子所羅門說：「我從以色列各支派中選擇了耶路撒冷和這殿，我的名要在這裡永遠受尊崇。

他把獻給耶和華的銅壇從耶和華的殿前搬到新壇的北邊，銅壇原來放在殿和新壇之間。他吩咐烏利亞祭司：「要在這座大壇上獻早晨的燔祭、晚上的素祭，王的燔祭、素祭，國中民眾的燔祭、素祭和奠祭，燔祭牲和平安祭牲的血也要灑在上面，但銅壇要供我個人求問之用。」

她們焚燒自己的兒女獻祭給偶像，並在當天進入我的聖所，褻瀆聖所。這就是她們在我聖所裡的惡行。

他從耶和華的殿門口除掉猶大各王獻給太陽神的馬匹，這些馬匹在太監拿單·米勒房子旁邊的院子裡。他燒掉了那些獻給太陽神的戰車。他推倒猶大各王在亞哈斯樓頂上建造的祭壇，摧毀瑪拿西在耶和華殿的兩個院子裡所築的祭壇，把它們打碎，把灰丟進汲淪溪。
