實為爾罪已深、故上帝隔絕爾、不垂顧爾、不俯聽爾。

爾曹殺人、雖舉手禱告弗輟、我必不俯聞、而遐棄爾。

凡鄰國眾庶、經過是邑、互相告語、曰、耶和華罰此大邑、何為至於若斯。人必曰、斯民背其上帝耶和華之約、崇拜服事他上帝、故有此罰。

為爾背約、故以鋒刃擊爾、洩我忿怒。爾若集於邑垣、我必使疫癘流行、付爾於敵。

曰、我不復鑒觀以眷顧之、必俟厥後當復如何、彼乃橫逆之族、無誠信之子、

如其上帝弗鬻之、如耶和華未棄之、則一可襲千、二可驅萬。

何患難時、耶和華遙立、弗眷顧兮、

故耶和華怒以色列族、付於四周之敵、為人所虜、莫能扞禦。

耶路撒冷民、愆尤叢集、主遐棄之兮、昔雖尊崇、今則裸體、為人藐視、彼亦欷歔而退兮。

其時我必震怒、遺棄斯民、不復眷顧、使其並吞於人、多更災患、彼必曰、我不蒙上帝所佑、致遭此禍。夫斯民蹈於愆尤、從事他上帝、故不復鑒觀以眷顧之、

耶和華施恩兮、國祚鞏固、有若山嶽、爾乃遐棄予兮、觳觫之不勝、

使之見敗於異邦、受制於仇敵兮、

侍衛長告耶利米曰、昔爾曹負罪、干犯耶和華、不遵其命、爾之上帝耶和華言、必降災於斯土、今一如其言、爾曹遇難其驗也。

凡過耶路撒冷者、鼓掌搖首、作怨憤之聲、曰、天下素稱華國樂土者、非此邑乎。敵口孔張、切齒憤聲、曰、我所望者、今日之事、斯邑吞噬、我所目睹兮。昔耶和華所定之事、今已為之、言無不應、彼傾爾邑、不加矜恤、使敵崢嶸、勝爾而喜兮。

凡過此有名之殿宇、必駭異、如有詢及者曰、耶和華燬此殿、害此國也、曷故。則必曰、昔上帝耶和華導其列祖、出於埃及、彼乃違逆、反簡他上帝、奉事崇拜、故耶和華降以是災。

呼籲爾者無人、懇求爾者無人、爾遐棄予、緣我罪戾、使我消亡。

先知曰、雖耶和華不顧雅各家、我仍仰望靡已、

雅各家以色列族為人攘奪、為人俘囚、誰使之然、非我耶和華乎、彼蹈罪愆、不從我道、不遵我法、

彼殘害人命、崇拜偶像、玷污斯土、故我震怒憤烈、散之於異邦族類、視其所為、而降其罰。彼至異邦、玩瀆我名、自稱耶和華之民、出於聖地、我之聖名、我珍惜之、以色列族在異族中、乃玩瀆之。故當告以色列家云、主耶和華曰我施恩澤、非為爾以色列族之故、特為珍惜我聖名耳、爾在異邦、玩瀆我大名不已、我必使人崇敬之、厥後爾必尊崇我、使異邦人目睹、則知我乃耶和華、我已言之矣。

故耶和華怒以色列族、付之於米所波大米王、古山哩薩田、為其役事、凡歷八年。

四方鄰國、必知我耶和華、之傾圮者建造、荒蕪者開墾、我言之、必行之。
