And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.

The nations will know that the people of Israel were taken away as prisoners because they sinned against me. They were not faithful to me. So I turned my face away from them. I handed them over to their enemies. All of them were killed by swords.

And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they dealt so treacherously with me that I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword.

The nations will then know why Israel was sent away to exile— it was punishment for sin, for they were unfaithful to their God. Therefore, I turned away from them and let their enemies destroy them.

而是你們的罪孽使你們與你們的神隔絕；你們的罪惡使他掩面不顧你們，不聽你們的禱告。

所以你們張開雙手的時候，我必掩眼不看你們；即使你們多多禱告，我也不聽；你們的手都沾滿血腥。

多國的人必經過這城，彼此發問：‘耶和華為甚麼這樣對待這大城呢？’必有人說：‘是因為他們離棄了耶和華他們神的約，並且敬拜事奉別神。’”

使刀劍臨到你們，報復背約的仇；聚集你們到城裡，好使我打發瘟疫在你們中間，把你們交在仇敵的手裡。

我也不再掩面不顧他們，因為我已經把我的靈澆灌在以色列家。這是主耶和華的宣告。”

說：‘我必掩面不顧他們，要看看他們的結局怎樣；因為他們是乖曲的一代，心裡沒有信實的人。

如果不是他們的磐石把他們出賣了，如果不是耶和華把他們交出來，一人怎能追趕一千人，二人怎能使萬人逃跑呢？

耶和華啊！你為甚麼遠遠地站著？在患難的時候，你為甚麼隱藏起來呢？

耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作，就把他們交在搶掠的人手中，他們就搶掠他們；他又把他們完全交在他們四圍的仇敵手中，以致他們在仇敵面前再不能站立得住。

耶路撒冷犯了大罪，因此成了不潔之物。素來尊敬她的現在都藐視她，因為看見她赤身露體；她自己也唉哼，轉身退避。

‘這城的居民出去和迦勒底人爭戰，就必使這些房屋充滿死屍，就是我在怒氣和烈怒中擊殺的。因為他們的一切惡行，我掩面不顧這城。

到了那日，我必向他們大發烈怒，離棄他們，掩面不顧他們，他們就必被吞滅，並且遭遇很多災禍和患難。到了那日，他們必說：‘我們遭遇這些災禍，不是因為我們的神不在我們中間嗎？’到了那日，因為他們偏向了別的神，和所作的一切惡事，我必掩面不顧他們。

耶和華啊！你的恩寵，使我堅立，如同大山；你一掩面，我就驚惶。

把他們交在外族人的手裡，恨惡他們的人就管轄他們。

護衛長把耶利米提出來，對他說：“耶和華你的神曾說要降這災禍在這地方；現在耶和華使災禍臨到，照他所說的行了；因為你們得罪了耶和華，沒有聽從他的話，所以這事才臨到你們。

所有過路的人，都拍掌嘲笑你；他們嗤笑耶路撒冷的居民，並搖頭說：“被人稱為最完美，為全地所喜悅的，就是這城嗎？”你所有的仇敵都張開口攻擊你，他們嗤笑你，又咬牙切齒，說：“我們吞滅它了！這真是我們期待的日子！我們等到了！親眼看見了！”耶和華作成了他定意去作的，成就了他的話，就是他昔日所宣告的，他把你拆毀，並不憐惜，他使仇敵因勝過你而高興，他高舉你敵人的角。

這殿雖然高大，但將來經過的人，都必驚訝，說：‘耶和華為甚麼這樣對待這地和這殿呢？’人必回答說：‘是因為這地的人離棄了耶和華他們列祖的神，就是領他們從埃及地出來的神，去親近別的神，敬拜和事奉他們；所以，耶和華使這一切災禍臨到他們。’”

沒有人呼求你的名，沒有人奮起抓著你；因為你掩面不顧我們，使我們在自己罪孽的權勢下融化。

我要等候那掩面不顧雅各家的耶和華，我要仰視他。

誰把雅各交出來給掠奪者？誰把以色列交給搶劫的呢？豈不是耶和華，就是我們得罪的那位嗎？因為他們不肯遵行他的道，也不肯聽從他的律法。

所以我因他們在那地上流人的血，又因他們以自己可憎的像玷污那地，就把我的烈怒倒在他們身上。我使他們分散在列邦，四散在各地；我按著他們的所作所為審判他們。他們到了所去的列邦那裡，我的聖名就被褻瀆，因為人總是談論他們說：‘這些是耶和華的子民，他們卻要從耶和華的地出來。’我卻顧惜我的聖名，就是以色列家在他們所去的列邦那裡所褻瀆的。“因此，你要對以色列家說：‘主耶和華這樣說：以色列家啊！我作這事，不是為了你們，而是為了我自己的聖名，就是在你們所去的列邦那裡所褻瀆的，我要使我的大名顯為聖，這名在列邦中已經被褻瀆了，是你們在他們中間所褻瀆的。我在你們身上向他們顯為聖的時候，他們就知道我是耶和華。這是主耶和華的宣告。

因此，耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作，把他們完全交在兩河之間的亞蘭王古珊．利薩田的手中；以色列人服事了古珊．利薩田八年。

那時，在你們四圍所餘剩的列國，就必知道我是耶和華，是我重建了那些毀壞的地方，栽植了那些荒涼之地。我耶和華說了，就必實行。
